The thought of Ossie Davis acting all badass in his motorized wheelchair is still cracking me up.

It was quotable as hell too, though my crappy memory won't recall film dialog unless I've seen it 5,000 times. Though I DO remember...

Thankyuhverrmuch.

YEPPERS!!! It's been on the cards 4 a good few years now, and I got confirmation 2day that the ONLY place 2 see the teaser trailer 4 it will be with the upcoming release of the Director's Cut version of Alien...

Here's what I just found on the web:

Premise: Set in the early 21st century (ie, now), this movie follows a team of drillers, scientists and archaeologists led by a billionaire industrialist (Henriksen) who travel to Antarctica to investigate ancient pyramid ruins buried deep beneath the ice which predate those in Egypt and Mexico, suggesting they were once the home of a great empire that ruled over the Earth first. When they finally reach one of the pyramids, however, they discover human skeletons and fossilized remains of alien creatures that appear to hug faces and burst out of chests (wink wink), along with evidence that such aliens may still be alive somewhere in the ruins. The danger below them is frightening, but what the scientists also don't know is that something as dangerous lurks above them, happy to have had someone uncover the Aliens: Predators. (there's a very nice, more detailed plot synopsis over at IGN FilmForce.)

Premise Note: (6/23/03) An early version of the script was closer in spirit to the video games, following scientists in the far future on a distant planet who experiment with Alien eggs in an effort to attract Predators to come there as a hunting ground, but that whole storyline has now been scrapped.

Filming: Production starts on October 28th, 2003 in Prague.

..and if that wasn't cool enough news, one of my fave actors will be in it!
Lance Henriksen:
woot!

(From ign.com):
September 30, 2003 -
Variety magazine is reporting on what seems to be the first casting announcement for Paul Anderson's Alien vs. Predator. Veteran bad-guy actor Lance Henriksen has gotten the part of the rich billionaire-industrialist, who recruits a team of engineers, scientists, and soldiers to excavate ruins buried deep beneath the Antarctic icecap.

Henriksen is already a familiar face to the Alien crowd. A friend of James Cameron, he appeared as the android named Bishop in Aliens and Alien 3. Henriksen is also known for his part in the 1983 astronaut film The Right Stuff and as retired FBI agent Frank Black in the TV series Millennium.

This should lead to interesting discussions among fans as to whether or not there's a direct link between Henriksen's modern day industrialist character and the android in the futuristic Alien films. Is it a coincidence, or is it possible that the technology Henriksen's modern-day character uncovers in Alien vs. Predator makes androids and other leaps of science possible? hmmm

I thought 'Millennium'was SUCH a fantastic show, made the X-Files looks so dated and pathetic. He's such an under-rated actor, I think he's great *gushes* lol

hmmm I wonder if this movie will suck ass, or actually be cool. Looks like they borrowed the storyline from an exsisting theory (read Graham Hancock's "Fingerprints of the Gods" thumbs up! ) and there was also an X-files episode about aliens under ice, wasn't there? (Not just the X-files movie, but one where they are in Antarctica.)

Out of 10? Hmmm...maybe a generous 8, or a very aggressive 7. If they'd managed to sneak Crispin Glover into the film, I'd up it to a 9 or a 10. horny

Huh? confuse

But I just read an interview with James Cameron (well, actually it was a couple of months ago, in the June-issue of Empire) that he and Ridley Scott were talking about revamping the Alien franchise with a brand new kind of Alien and no Sigourney Weaver in the cast.
Sounded really good to me. biggrin

Aliens Vs. Predator was all the talk back in '91/'92 following the huge succes of Dark Horse's Aliens Vs. Predator comic. Like Predator 2 was an adaptation of a Dark Horse comic, the Alien Vs. Predator movie was supposed to adapt the comic.
But when Sigourney signed on for Alien3, all plans for Aliens Vs. Predator got scrapped. And I've heard nothing of it since.
And now you're telling me that it's back on, has an all-new storyline and stars Lance Henriksen?! omg

I'm not sure I like that. I want to see Cameron and Scott's co-production a helluva lot more. drool

Yeah, an X-Files episode, the movie (which was suprisingly enjoyable I found), The Thing, The Thing (original version) etc etc...but fuggit, Im still up 4 it!Graham Hancock - cool guy: 'Quest For The Lost Civilisiation' was great. thumbs up!

ONLINE FAN REVIEW OF THE TRAILER:
"Very Stargate opening like, swooping close-ups of the alien head and the predator mask.
Then a shot of a ship dropping a pod to earth, VERY cool!"

No Sigourney tho - She's gotta be involved behind the scenes, as she now owns some of the rights 2 the franchise or somethin, but I know that she will be in Alien6.

I tell u one thing, Alien3's ORIGINAL premise was SO fucking cool! What a wasted idea.

DOWNLOAD THE BEST SCRIPT FOR ALIEN3 HERE (Zip file):
www.planetavp.com/al/Mult...a3fasa.zip

But I DO feel sorry 4 David Fincher, as no one backed him up on that movie, and pretty much abandoned him. I understand that the new 'Alien Quadrilogy' DVD box set which is due out soon (something like 7 or 8 DVS!) will not only include the Directors cuts of Alien and Aliens, but also a MUCH longer version of Alien 3 that Fincher insists that the 'Alien3 workprint' version will show it in a different light. So reading between the lines, it looked like the studio hacked it 2 pieces.

Alien3 has more deleted scenes than any other Alien film since its production went through a lot of problems, and its script, was revised at least eight times.

LOVED that Joan of Arc-esque ending tho... clapping

anyway, when all is said and done, I can 4give them anything, as they gave us THE greatest line ever delivered in a motion picture:

All I can tell u at this stage is that this is a SEPERATE spin-off from the franchise, an 'unofficial' Alien5 if u will.

There is still talk of a new Alien movie with Sigourney Weaver in it, yes - I heard those rumours too - 1st that James and Ridley had been talking, but then read that Ridley had spoken with Sigourney about the possibility of him directing another one himself...

I'll keep ya posted!
In the meantime, dodnload the amazing original premise 4 Alien3 in my above post - read about this years ago, and it woudl have SO worked, just on the basis of being SO different! LOVE it.

Banana - I downloaded and devoured ALL the abandoned scripts for Alien3 years ago! lol

I know a lot of scenes were shot for Alien 3 (some of which were included in the comic book adaptation, among others the Alien being succesfully trapped following the explosion only to have Golic set it free) and pictures from some of those scenes were used in the original trailer (Ripley being found on the beach with insects crawling on her face and Andrews carrying her towards the building complex), as well as in the trading card set and in promotional material(the face hugger being found in the abattoir and the alien emerging from a cow).
I've always wondered why this material weren't even included on the DVD. But I am pleased that it will finally see release and am looking very forward to it. I absolutely LOVED Alien3. I saw that movie so many times in the theatre and cried everytime Ripley died. cry

I am as huge a fan of the Alien movies as of the Star Wars movies, you see. biggrin

I'll probably be branded a film geek heretic for this, but I absolutely loved Alien Resurrection to pieces. I love Jeunet to begin with, but the dialog was so fun (I usually hate the precocious prattle that comes outta that Buffy writer guy, but it worked for me here) and everything looked so delicious...I might even say it's my favorite of the four. (Keyword: MIGHT.)

The pictures were INCREDIBLY pretty. But the storyline was kinda silly and the characters didn't really appeal to me. Except for the guy with the glasses, they were all unsympathetic and I like, well... likeable people in my movies. biggrin

Also, I thought what's her name, you know, the shoplifter? was totally out of place in the Alien environment. Way too sweet and peachy clean. Totally mal-cast (if there is such a word).

Im with AnX on this - Jeunet could make a can of soup look alluring. I enjoyed it - even though the Alien hybrid kinda didnt work 4 me (2 a degree) I felt 4 it when it went, and was crying out 4 its mother 2 save it. Thought that was good.
