I saw the AURORA last night! I've been looking since they've been talking about these solar flares. Finally, last night around 8pm in the east over the water I saw a hazy pinkish glow. It wasn't well defined because there was a lot of city light obscuring the details, but it was very beautiful nonetheless. I love stuff like this! I hope the weather is clear again tonight. Has anybody else had the chance to catch it?

it's a still from the upcoming HBO movie versions of "angels in america"... fantastic plays that were the most amazing peice of theatre i ahve ever seen. the particular shot is when the angel rips through the apartment ceiling of the prophet who is dying of AIDS complications, and announces the apocalypse. http://www.hbo.com/films/...&player=qt Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

Unfortunately me and applekisses did not see it. I was holed up in the house with a sore back (cracked my back too hard, pinched a nerve, affected my right leg, bottom, etc.) so I laid on the bed and watched Must See TV and LeBron James against the Phoenix Suns. Applekisses went out with one of her friends to see a movie and catch-up with her friend. Me and applekisses though carved our pumpkins last night. I saw on the news today that Alaska, per the norm, had the auroas blazing last night due to that solar flare. They said it was a huge display. I've been to Anchorage, lived there for almost 4 years, and I know of what they speak. One time in Anchorage in late September, 26 degrees and a clear night. The entire sky was filled with green, white and yellow curtains and fogs. It was AMAZING. Even though we have 75-plus up here in Detroit I am praying just like you that we see the northern lights again. Oh, a few years back in October I did see some in Ann Arbor late at night. Very faint. Can't wait! ...

I first heard about the Aurora in the Muppet song "Can You Picture That?" by Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, from "The Muppet Movie" soundtrack.
can you picture that? Paul Williams/Kenny Ascher Dr. Teeth: Ohhh yeah! Whooo! Everybody's lover, everybody's brother, I wanna be your lifetime friend. Crazy as a rocket, nothin in my pocket, I keep it at the rainbow's end. I never think of money, I think of milk 'n honey, grinnin like a cheshire cat. I focus on the pleasure, somethin' I can treasure, can you picture that? Can you picture that? Dr. Teeth: (spoken) Hey, Floyd, Pick a verse! Floyd Pepper: Let me take your picture, add it to the mixture, there it is I got you now! Really nothin' to it, anyone can do it, it's easy and we all know how. Now begins the changin', mental rearrangin', nothing's really where it's at, Dr. Teeth: Now the Eiffel Tower's holdin up a flower. Can you picture that? [Musical bridge] Floyd: Fact is there's nothin out there you can't do Yeah, even Santa Claus believes in you. Dr. Teeth: Beat down the walls, begin, believe, behold, begat. Floyd: Be a better drummer, be an up and comer. Can you picture that? Animal: CAN YOU PICTURE THAT??!! Floyd: All of us are winnin, pickin and a-grinnin, Lordy but I love to jam Janice Jelly-belly gigglin, dancin and a-wigglin, honey that's the way I am! Dr. Teeth: Lost my heart in Texas, Northern lights affect us, I keep it underneath my hat, Aurora Borealis, shinin down on Dallas! Can you picture that? Can you picture that? (Chorus) Can you picture? You gotta see it in your mind! Can you picture? You know it's quick and easy to find! Can you picture? You don't have to buy a frame! Can you picture? Can you picture that? Can you picture that? Dr. Teeth: Use it if you need it Floyd: Don't forget to feed it! All: Can you picture that? Janice: (spoken): Oh wow, can you get behind it? Fer shurely... MAN, they were Funky!!! http://elmadartista.tumblr.com/ http://twitter.com/madartista
