Knocking People Over! OMG, I was in a car being driven back to my hotel from the factory I was working at and the driver knocked over a China man!
Anyway he drove on and laughed, I was sleeping in the car and when I woke and heard the bump, I asked what was up. When I heard what happened I was so shocked and sad but they said he was ok and just bashed himself against the car (he was standing in the middle of the motorway apparently) Anyway about 10 minutes later a car sped infront of us and asked us to pull over. 3 men got out including the man who was hit and they chased to the driver of my car and were shouting abuse. They peered in his window to see me in the back seat with my colleague. Honestly cos I didnt understand what they were saying but knew there was alot of shouting and swearing and verbal abuse, it scared the shit out of me at the time, cos I didnt know what they had planned or what their intentions were. They demanded money from the driver. This went on for about 30 minutes. The man had broken his hand, but luckily after all the arguing, phoning people, walking back to the car, kicking the car, they left us alone. Whoever was in the wrong this shouldnt have happened and it is scary to know that there is always danger around the corner no matter how safe you try to be. I just thought I would say that.

CHA-CHING! Not in China, he would have to pay for his hospital fees too, but he only demanded 400 RMB which is about 40 pounds. Some people who accidentally knock a pedestrian over in places like this, run over them again to kill them , cos the penalty of "accidental" death is much less than if the victim was paralysed, the driver would have to care financially for the victim for the rest of his life.

OMG, Red, how awful! I can see why you were scared, I would have been too. That driver never should have kept going after he knew that he had run that poor guy over. The driver should have stopped to make sure that the man was okay. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I know Red, it is pretty common really in some Asian countries. I had a similar experience in South Korea last year, it can be scary, but your driver was just lucky you were in the car, if they DIDN'T see a foreigner in the car they probably would have beaten the shit out of him - then just stolen all his money and probably the car also... They don't care about bashing a fellow Chinaman but a foreigner is a totally different situation, it can have big repercussions for them and they really seriously think twice if not ten times about attempting to do anything to a foreigner. Lucky you ! [This message was edited Sun Oct 26 7:36:09 PST 2003 by FunkyStrange] Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

He was knocked off his bike, he wasnt wearing a crs=ash helmet and there was blood gushing from his head, I saw him shake like crazy on the road until he died. That really effected me badly cos nobody rushed to help him :sad
