I've worn glasses since I was in the 5th grade. My whole family has horrible vision, myself included - I cannot see more than a foot in front of my face. I can't get contacts because my insurance doesn't cover them (but they cover glasses) and I have a condition where I have bumps on my eyelids so everytime I blink the contact rubs against them, which is supposedly very irritating. My older sister tried having contacts her senior year of high school and after a month she had to go back to glasses because of the bumps. My parents were pissed, all of that money down the drain!

My whole immediate family (minus my mom and my oldest brother) have horrible vision too, so I know what you mean. I can't see a foot in front of my face either, and have to put my face right next to the clock in order to be able to see the numbers at night when I roll over in bed - lol!!

It's a shame that you can't wear contact lenses because of your eyelid condition. I would recommend contacts to anybody who can wear them, because they made a world of difference for me with not having to wear glasses with those thick thick lenses. I envy people who have perfect 20/20 vision, since I have not had that since I was 8 or 9 years old.

Just call me Ol' Four Eyes. I used to wear glasses when I was little. They corrected my vision and I was glasses free during my teens and twenties. Then about 10 years ago, I realized that my vision wasn't all that great so now I wear them again.
