I'm a vegetarian because I don't want to eat meat or cause suffering.
I consider it "my little effort" .. I don't preach to people, nor do I expect others to follow suit. What I do expect other people to do is to think about the animals they are eating and not to waste meat or support practices which cause suffering or cruelty. Bearing all that in mind, and the reasons I am a vegetarian, I would probably elect to eat one chicken to save ten others. I'm not sure I understand the point you're making though. | |

I'm confused because if I elected to eat the chicken (and I have to say it's a big "if") my motive would be to prevent ten others from suffering. I wouldn't feel guilty about the chicken I ate not laying eggs - what if it were infertile anyway? Or is the question "would you eat a chicken rather than it's 10 chicks?" ... yes, I'm ... but no change there! | |

However if you decided to kill a further 10 chickens as a consequence of that, that is your decision and not mine. However if you decided to kill a further 10 chickens as a consequence of that, that is your decision and not mine.
