I think …

JD,
CBOrgman,
Vashti,
Paisley,
Teller,
Chico,
Sweeny,
PurpleLove7,
Kelley
and Red

…all put a lot of hours in. I think if a new mod is needed it would have to be someone who uses the org a lot.

smile True, it's useful if a mod can devote a lot of time to the site. But moderating also requires:

(a) Being thick skinned - your moderation decisions WILL piss people off at times and you'll meet all kinds of lunatics who'll threaten you and harrass you.

(b) Ability to make awkward decisions, unpopular decisions. Sometimes you might have to deal harshly with people you like, and sometimes you have to be helpful with people you dislike. Sometimes being truly fair and even-handed means sacrificing your popularity and reputation (not that this applies to me, I've always been a pain razz)

(c) Few "allegiances" - this means that people who have "org enemies" and long-running bitter feuds with other individuals here are not very suitable for moderating because they can't be expected to deal with everyone fairly. Several people on your list there wouldn't be suitable IMO, for that very reason.

Anyone can do it, it just takes time and effort. Some of the people mentioned in this thread are just far too nice though, I wouldn't wish it upon them smile smile

hmmm I guess that's the everyday stuff U have to deal with right. What goes on behind the scenes. Does it take the fun out of orging, knowing all the shit that's going on?

Ahhh... yeah definitely, sometimes. However I personally still very much enjoy the Org - there's enough nice people here, and enough fun threads to post on, that it still holds my interest. I've tried to continue posting regularly as "myself" too. There'd be no point in putting so much effort into running the site if we didn't have any chance to enjoy the fruits of our labour smile

I do think we've built a good moderator team now. The workload is spread around a lot more evenly now (especially since LaV and Handclaps came onboard) so we can enjoy the site more ourselves beyond the boring ol' moderating stuff. Which is the way it should be smile

Also our personalities complement each other... we get each other's opinions on problematic issues etc.

I don't care who's moderator as long as they pass the "Cannot deactivate EvilWhiteMale's account" law.
