me in my rocky horror gear

okay, as many of you have heard, one of the plays i was in that really got me more public notice than any other was the rocky horror show (not picture show, that's the movie)

a few have asked for pictures, and this is the only one i can find, which was one of the pictures i saved from one of the newspaper magazines. sorry, i don't have a scanner, only my lil' web cam.

this was from the first year we did. it was such a huge hit (biggest moneymaker in the history of that theatre, and biggest money maker of any of the shows that year at any of the theatres in that town, thank you very much) they brought it back the following year, and i have not yet been able to find any pics of that. the first year we stuck somewhat close o tthe movie second year, we said fuck the movie and went our own route, and it worked much better. but first year pics will have to do.

Chris, tomorrow night, when I throw off my cape and parade around the crowd of Ford workers and Republicans that will be in attendance at the party...

I'll try and channel the Borgman spirit to give me strength.

I can't wait to sing "Sweet Transvestite." This is actually a VERY big deal for me--I'd be a VERY different person today if "Rocky Horror" hadn't been in my life...

you'll have SOOO much fun...

my friends used to take me to karaoke and try and persude me to sing it, and i would refuse... till they bought me lots of drinks. then i would get up there while shit-faced and knock it out of the park. never failed to get me a standing ovation. the great thing about the song is if you commit to it even the poeple who have not seen the movie or the play, or are freaked out can't help but be blown away by it. and the kicking bassline don't hurt none either

In junior-high and high school, I used to put on my RHPS soundtrack and just pantomime every song in my room. My favorite song is "Fanfare/Dont Dream It." I also have this wierd obsession with "Planet Schmanet, Janet." Just love it!

but of course... that show was what began my feminist awakening... between the full body shaves(cause i am very hairy... had to do it all), the bikini wax, the pain of running around and dancing in 6 inch heels for hours, and the way people would feel that the clothing was a way of saying "touch me, i exist only to give you sex" i was sooo angry all the time.

if i had to deal with menstruation on top it, someone would have been dead...

i loved the movie till i did the play... saw it over 200 times. used to drive my brother insane by watching it nearly every ngiht.

now in general the songs make me cringe, cause i no longer think of the movie, i think of what a hellish couple of months my love of it made me endure

hee hee... people always told me i looked sexy in that for some reason.

the BEST compliment any audience ever gave me was through that show.

it was halloween, and we did an 8:00 and a midnight show. after the 8:00, i slapped the labcoat and a bathrobe on, and went to get some food. when i pulled my car back into the parking lot, i pulled up next to a forerunner, and parked. as i was getting out of the car, people suddenly sat up in the seats, and turned the vehicle on and drove away fast.

i was like... "what the..."

i went up to the woman playing the criminologist and one of the chorus girls who were standing outside smoking.

"i think those people were having sex in car!" i said.

they giggled and nodded. they pointed to the parking lot. there were four other vehicles in the parking lot shaking.

we had turned them on so much they didn't even wait to get home...

it totally rocked.
