That's extremely cool, Apples... I would love to be involved with something like that...combining kids and art/creative expression, can be so deeply rewarding. When I worked at the Watts Towers Arts Center, we did something similar with our graphic design program...we took the inner city students that signed up for our classes, gave them all cameras (nice ones, too...better than my own..lol), and took them out into the neighborhood (South Central/Compton area) to photograph their neighborhood, and show everyone their "home" thru their own eyes. At first they were hesitant, trying to take stereotypical photos...we had to convince them to see the beauty held within an abandoned and empty storefront...within the architecture of their local church...things like that. One of the photos on my website I had taken during that project: When we were thru, we also had them develop their own film and print their own prints...it was an exhausting exercise (none of the students had any darkroom experience, so we had to literally teach them everything), but extremely rewarding. Afterwards, we held an exhibit at CalArts (California Institute of the Arts), and these highschool students from South Central were just floored that their art, their vision, and their creativity was being taken so seriously...*smile* I love projects like the one you just exposed me to, Andrea...would love to see it in person.

By the way...GREAT sunflower pics, too! There are wild fields of acres and acres of sunflowers in Italy...when I first saw them in person, I couldn't take my eyes off them...they're so stinkin' HUGE!...lol...and to see miles of them just growing there...just beautiful.

Thanks for the compliment...I LOVE those sunflowers
Yeah, The Heidelberg Project is something very special...I think people sometimes forget how important art is to life. I'm so happy to hear about the work you did with the kids in South Central/Compton...I KNOW that you changed some of those kids lives...or at least got them thinking about other things. They'll remember what you did for the rest of their lives Once I get the pics of Heidelberg scanned in (which should be tomorrow) I'm going to start a thread just for it...

Thanks, Sag They're a little blurry because of extra compression that the site I'm using put on them...I have to fix that when I get home...so tonight they'll be much clearer.
