BUBBA HO-TEP! Ok, here's the low-down:
Elvis (Bruce Campbell in a piece of inspired acting and casting!) isnt dead after all - he's been residing in an East Texas rest home all these years, after switching identities with an Elvis impersonator years before his 'death' - fucking up his chance to switch back when his imposter suddenly snuffed it. Elvis teams up with Jack (played by the esteemed Ossie Davis), a fellow nursing home resident who thinks that he is actually J.F.K! ('they dyed me this way!' he exclaims when Elvis points out that JFK was in fact white) The two valiant old codgers head in2 battle when they stumble across the existence of an ancient evil - an Egyptian entity called Bubba Hop-Tep who has chosen their long-term care facility as his happy hunting grounds... U couldn't wish 4 a more freaky, fun, original film than this - it deserves major praise, and Im hoping that it is gonna be the sleeper hit of the year - if not, there is just no justice in the world! I gotta travel but I am going to see this movie. I love anything Bruce Campbell is in. Army of Darkness is one of my favorite movies of all-time. | |
