o

My mom helped one of her friends move, and the woman was on the phone the whole time and had my mom practically do everything. So, yep, let's add to the list:

Please at least ACT like you're trying to help them move! lol

I'd like to add:

* Have somebody else already on hand who isn't afraid to drive a moving truck (and who has a good, active driver's license).

*Don't say "the house is almost empty already," when there is enough sh*t still in there to stock a WalMart.

*It'd be nice if storm doors, stair railings, etc. were already removed from the tight hallways being moved into/out of. I'm helping with moving, not light contracting!

*Don't drive like friggin' Daisy Duke -- running lights, weaving through traffic, etc. -- if I have to follow you through traffic to a place I've never, ever been.

I HATE moving. It's worse than racism, famine and war combined.

OMG, I helped my best friend move from his in-laws house to his first house and it was fucked up. mad

First there was supposed to be like 5 people and it ended up being just him and me. His wife and little one kept getting in the way and I kept trying to tell her to go to the other house and let us handle it.

Then we had a hell of a time just getting his couch out the front door that almost didn't fit going in. We had to take the baby's crib apart. Then we had to go down stairs and turn off the gas and disconnect the washer and dryer.

Holy shit!! chair If you are going to move, be prepared and have all you stuff disconnected and packed.
Get you wife and kids the hell out of there ( she likes to supervise), and have more than one person helping you.

I will pay to have someone move me next time. Not worthing the pain and suffering for 3 days later. nuts

Cosign, Sign, and Tangent.

A friend and I once agreed to help move a third friend, cause we're philanthropic like that. But when we showed up she had nothing packed! And her kid was running around like she'd hyped him up on coffee specially for us.

She had rented a truck but still hadn't picked it up. So I had to go and get it from the rental place, which is fine but let an Orger know!

Also, I swear to God, loading the truck was a freaking nightmare, since she insisted on standing on the ramp and actually rearranging the furniture as we were putting it in! I was like "Do you want us to lay the carpet too??"

By the end of the night when we finally made it into the kitchen we saw that all of her glases, plates, tupperware, refrigerator magnets etc were still in the cabinets! There were even dirty dishes in the sink!

So we sent her out to buy some Subway sandwiches, swept everything into black garbage bags, and heaved it into the back of the truck.

We locked the truck before she returned from Subway.

She was moving across country.

I've always wondered if she ever managed to find any rubes to help her unload and I wonder what the back of that truck looked like...

confused
