A question for the men of the org.

Why is it that men, I use the general term here but I realize not all men are like this, are never satisfied with one women? It seems to me that once a man has "conquered" a women he decides he needs to go out and "conquer" another one. Why? Do men who behave like this dream of that one true love, or are you dooming yourselves to a cycle of ever changing bedmates? As Eliot said, "It is impossible to say just what I mean," but I hope you are getting the fundamentals of my question. Why do some men get bored? Is it the women's fault or is it something in the male makeup that drives them to behave like this? I really hope I just made some sense there. lol

heterosexual men look at every single woman they see as a possible woman to have sex with. if the woman is not very attractive, they dont think about her again. if she is attractive, they think about her often.

keep in mind, i mean EVERY SINGLE WOMAN THEY SEE. They are all rated on the "Would I have sex with her?" Scale.

The problem comes when a guy has a committment and then acts on a woman that is on said scale. (as I said, every woman is on there somewhere!) Some men have the ability to just think about having sex with the women on the scale, some actually have sex with them.

The men that have sex with them when they have a prior committment, have no willpower. They cannot swallow their pride and admit defeat to their current committment.

So, in closing, just remember that hetersexual men want to have sex with every woman they see. Some have the willpower to not act on it, some do not have that willpower.

Why is commitment a defeat? I'm not saying I disagree with what you just said but I really want to know why do hetero men see love as an end and not a beginning?

because, in theory, they can never have sex with another women they put on that list except for the one they are committed to. the list still exists and they know they cannot act on it anymore. it doesnt mean anything. they still love their committment (usually) and all that, they just know they cant possibly have sex with every women they see anymore.

That brings us to my original question. Why do these men need more than one women?

It's about propagation of the species. By having sex with lots of women, we ensure the continuation of our genetic patterns for future generations. We are driven to it. It's not our fault.

Oh alright, didn't think you'd seriously buy that shit smile

There's loads of reasons. Here's a few:

  • Some men commit themselves too seriously, too soon, to the wrong woman
  • People change - it is possible to fall out of love if a person changes over the years into someone you don't like very much after all
  • Sex with the same person forever is boring, and sex with lots of different partners can be fun, at least for a while
  • Some more immature men seek the thrill of the chase, sexual conquest etc
  • The sparkle can go out of a relationship, and both parties stop making any effort to please each other or appeal to each other
  • The possibility of an upgrade - a younger, better looking woman who you can better impress your mates with
  • Being pursued - when your long-term relationship is stale and sex has all but ceased, the lure of another woman who is interested in you, pursuing you aggressively and pandering to your ego in order to have you herself can be hard to resist
  • Regardless of how well a relationship is going, men will always fantasize about other women and scenarios. Some men try to turn these fantasies into reality, which proves detrimental to monogamous relationships

Thank you very much Ian! I appreciate your candor. So a man can NEVER be happy with just one woman?

Oh, I wouldn't say that! It totally depends on the relationship and the people involved.

There's plenty of room for ideals of romantic love and life-long marital bliss... plenty of people manage it, it does happen so it must be possible. It just isn't easy.

I forgot those! Trophy wives and trophy husbands...

Yeah... by no means do I condone such behaviour, but I've seen it happen. Young men, inexperienced and insecure, willing to step on someone's feelings or abuse their trust to satisfy their male ego. That type.

seems like men and women both do the same thing - for every man who cheats, there's a woman he cheats with...

plus, men certainly don't have the monopoly on this...

That is very true. It's just that I have recently discovered that a very close friend of my mate's is cheating on his wife.

Child..a proper man doesnt behave like this and he treats a lady with respect and fidelity. Find yourself a man that respects you. You women have a lot of power to win men over, use it and they'll come begging, like i would.

It's usually the woman's fault. If she just lost a bit of weight, and quit complaining when her husband suggested inviting her friends over for a 3-in-the-bed romp, she'd keep her man!
