How do you deal with a backstabbing "friend"? I've found out that someone I considered a good friend has been gossiping and spreading lies about me. This completely sucks. Why do people feel the need to gossip in the first place? I'm going to approach him directly and ask him about it and tell him that what he did was immature.

Drop them like a hot potato. I had a best friend in high school whom I told my deepest darkest secret to. By the end of the day, it was spread through the school. Obviously, the folks she gossiped to couldn't hold water either and told me where the rumor started. I have not spoken to her in fifteen years. | |

Of course you're right but I'd still like to know what goes through their head. I want to ask him if there's any reason to spread gossip. Knowing this guy, my guess is he'll will say that it's his opinion of me and he has a right to voice his opinion. What an ass. I am sorry it sucks. Unless they generally are far above it...move on! Hey Muse!  I'd like to resolve this as quickly as possible and yes I'm going to move on soon enough. However, if I let it lie and do nothing, eventually it'll come up again so I'd rather nip this thing in the bud and let him know how I feel and that I'd like him to stop. I was gonna say confront them...but you've already decided to do so  And good for you cuz usually some folk dont want to be confrontational...I hate that feeling of a "friend" backstabbing you...I had it happen to me like 3 times and now I can practically smell out the backstabbers But all I hope is that when you do confront them...that you say the RIGHT THINGS!
