I took this picture today... my son and I went to the nature museum as always and I thought that some of you might think that this tree was cool... this tree has been hit by lightning more than once and it is still alive.

Please forgive the image quality, as I shrunk the picture a lot and saved it at 25% quality JPEG so that it would be small enough to put up here.

At least it's still alive. That's more than I can say for some of the trees here. We drove down this boulevard today, a street I take almost every day with my bike, and somehow it looked really empty. They are building a bunch of new office buildings in the area, and at first I thought that there was a building missing or something. Then I noticed that they had cut ALL the trees down that used to line the boulevard!! And not young trees either. They were all a pretty good size and I estimated that they must have cut down at least 70 trees!! I want to cut whoever decided to do that down.



I am so angry.

WOW! What an incredible tree...I'm sure it would have some great stories to tell if it could...

And the butterflies...they're so beautiful. I miss seeing them...they're getting more and more scarce up here...they know that the cold weather is coming and they're on their way to Mexico for the winter.

I have always thought that it was cool that the tree was still alive, even though it is split in half and hollow.

That tree is like Bruce Willis in the "Die Hard" trilogy and "Unbreakable." :LOL:
