Why Pride??? So people trip out when I tell them that I'm not proud of who I am or where I'm from. I also tell them I'm not proud of my family.
Here is the best way I think I can describe it. 1. Point about Pride: Why are you proud of something you have no control over? You didn't accomplish anything to get this so why are you proud of it? I am not proud that I'm an Indian, or a male, or from my family because it's something I have no control over and I did nothing to make this happen. This is why pride is the root of evil: You have no control over your race, so with this why are there racists in the world? Why should I hate someone because he's black? He doesn't have control over this at all. Why should I hate someone who is white? He has no control over this as well. Think about this it makes sense. Now you can hate someone who drives a BMW or you can be proud that you have enough money to buy a BMW. Those who are racist should read this response with an open mind because you and anyone else who has a certain way of thinking may learn something about life. This can also be turned around to people who are ashamed of their race, or their parents problems and so on. [This message was edited Thu Oct 9 19:31:39 PDT 2003 by mrbungle]

That's a great question. I wish I had the answer to it but I don't. I'm sure it's something to do with some issues with myself that I hate and I deflect it towards society. I don't know what those issues are and hopefully once I find out I will be able to use that information to change my outlook on life. Personally I hate people/ society. Once I get to know someone then the hate changes but until I do we'll I hate you. I like you especially because you made me think. Thanks!

being proud of your heritage is just a way of acknowledging your upbringing. like it or not, these things influenced you in some way and made you who you are today.

Correct it's influenced me but why should I be proud of it. I never had any control over it. Are you proud that you are gay? If yes why? Are you ashamed of being gay? If yes why? It's something you have no control over, it just happens. You can be greatful for being in a family or being gay and so on. It seems wierd that our world is about Pride: American Pride, Black Pride, White Pride, Proud to be Asian, Proud to have 2 arms and 2 legs, Proud to be from Antartica and so on. Do you get where I'm coming from with this?
