Get a Mac or some other computer that runs UNIX. That will solve the problem.

Unix, Linux, RedHat, YellowDog, OS X, BSD... any of these will do.

ever since my partner hooked up this stupid wireless router, things have gone to shit. Downloading music, sometime the cable modem works, sometimes you need to unplug it, now McAfee is fucked up. I don't have the $$$ to get a Mac but that is the next step.

Free, can be intrusive or non-intrusive, and just all around swangy.

Otherwise, Norton is a hog but can take care of business. Check also InnoculateIT, and FProt

Still it's nice to know, when our bodies wear out, we can get another

Backup all your important information and software.

Reformat your computer.

Pick up the latest copy of Norton Antivirus (it's under 30 bucks in most places).

Before you do anything with windows after reformatting, configure your internet connection, and install Norton Antivirus. Immediately run LiveUpdate.

Then go ahead and set up your email, remaining software, etc...

Run LiveUpdate daily (you can configure it to automatically do this).

Also run AdAware regularly to keep spyware off your system.
