COMPUTER VIRUSES I just got my third batch of nachi and lovsan worm viruses in a month...and all because I tried to use kazaa lite, ie disabled my firewall.
I'm just wondering how often you guys get them, if at all, which ones you get, what you do to prevent them and whether or not they have done any permanent damage to your system/s. Oh and if you know whether it is at all possible to file-share behind a firewall, that would be great. Cheers. mrdespues.

what i'm wondering is what were you downloading on kazaa that gave you a virus in the first place? i've downloaded pretty much every kind of file on kazaa and never gotten a virus warning.
are you using kazaa, or kazaalite?

How do you know when you get the virus? Are you running some kind of a scan after you use Kazaa Lite? If your anti-virus software can detect it, then why doesn't it block it? -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i am not currently running any anti-virus software, but when i get the worm virus, i know i've got it because it because an error window continually pops up and tells me the computer has to shut down. the next thing i have to do is get what is called a "stinger" from mcaffee (an anti-virus software company) which then finds and removes any worm viruses. the first time i got the virus though, I was running Norton anti-virus software, which notified me of it. the reason i don't have norton on my comp anymore? i recently had to wipe my whole laptop's hard drive because a piece of shitty software called evidence eliminator which seriously impaired my whole computer. since reloading everything, i just haven't gotten around to reinstalling norton yet. hope that answers your question! . Ok, then the solution is simple it seems. Just put the anti-virus software back on your computer and keep it running in the background before you try to download anything or even go on the internet at all.
Also, if you're using a system restore function on your computer, you may be reloading the virus even after McAfee does a clean up for you. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
