I'm In Need of Some Tech Support I've tried to change my computer's "display properties" from "16 Colors" to "High Color (16 Bit)" But I'm having problems. I'll click"apply" and then I'm told that the changes will take place after the computer is restarted. So I restart the computer and the color has reverted back to "16 Colors" What should I do? If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

You might want to set your driver up so that you don't need to restart for changes to be applied first... then change your colors and wait to see if it works. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

It sounds like your video drivers are not correctly installed. Please give details of what kind of PC you have, what video card, and also what version of Windows you are using. Your card could be using the wrong driver, or you may have multiple driver entries in device manager that are screwing things up. Post more info and we'll try to help.

It's a gateway, I don't know what video card it's got.
I don't know how to upgrade my display drivers "You might want to set your driver up so that you don't need to restart for changes to be applied first... then change your colors and wait to see if it works." I tried that-didn't work. If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

I've got Windows ME I'm not exactly sure what kind of Gateway it is as it was passed on from someone my family knows. If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

Okay. You need to find out the model number - it might be on a sticker on the front of your PC. Also: Right-click on My Computer, go to Properties, go to Device Manager. Click on the plus sign beside "Display adapters" and tell us what entries appear below it. Also, tell us if there is any category called "Other Devices" that may have entries with yellow exclaimation marks as their icon - if they are there, tell us about those too.

There's the number G6-333c on the front Under Display drivers there's something called RAGE PRO TURBO AGP 2X I don't see anything that says "Other devices" If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

Can someone help? My color is all distorted. things turn up grayish alot. I can't take it! Today my brother insulted my inept-ness when I told him I couldn't fix it. I'd love to fix it and rub it in his face! If it doesn't fit, it's ugly anyway.

My advice is to bin it and get a new PC Or alternatively, give Gateway tech support a call: http://www.gateway.com/ab...ndex.shtml They might be able to tell you (based on your PC model number) what video card you have and what drivers you need. Your Gateway PC probably came with a "System CD" (as they used to call them in those days) that probably has ATI video drivers on there. You could give those a try...
