Actually its just the opposite...you do not want to see the grains in a photograph...graininess usually means your camera is bad sad

High speed film like 400, 800, 1600, and 3200 allow you to get shots with faster shutter speeds, especially in low light conditions. But the downside is that these films are grainy.

Low speed films like 50, 100, 200 require a wider apeture and/or a longer exposure time, but they're less grainy and provide better detail and color saturation.

Digital cameras are suprisingly similar. You can often toggle them between 100,200,400, and 800 ISO. And the same thing occurs, the higher you go, the more speckled your image becomes.

There are alot of B&W photographers who love to use grain in their images. Especially if they're shooting edgy or fringe subjects.

Ernst Haas used grain in some of his work. The second photo is a really bad reproduction, it looks much better up close.

I agree with what you say cause it is true...but here is my experience...I have a camera...and no matter the film speed you use in it...all the pictures you get from it are grainy as hell no matter if they are in focus or not. Now me personally I HATE seeing the grains in pics...so I took it in to have it looked at, come to find out the lense was bad. sad So I just bought another camera rolleyes not like I need anymore lol I hate grain some like grain each to their own I suppose nod

Actually I am still gonna disagree with you to a point. But as I said above each to their own...you like what you like and I like what I like. I was speaking from my experiences which are different from your.

Thanks
