if you dont take it seriously it has no effect, by taking it serious gives those people a hell of a lot more power than its really worth.people take the virtual world wayyy to fuckin seriously, iv'e learned that and it took me a long time to do so. so nancy just dont take this computer shit serious and you'll live a healthier more balanced life. People also have an enormous ability to misinterpret the things written, which has led to some negative encounters for me online. It's easier to work out true meanings with face to face contact, you can immediately ask for clarification, you can see facial expresssions, etc. Even if I wink after I say something online to imply a joke, it's easy to be taken too seriously. I am learning to try not take these things seriously, to not create a world in my head where P Org exists and kicks my ass. Good point, i was often wondering about the same. it's weird, but i think that those people who act all nasty and mean are really quite ones in real life, and that's why they need to let all the stress and evil spirit out online - instead of pissing off friends and people around them.

these people are ridiculously insecure about themselves, and fairly full of self-hatred. they go to boards and abuse everyone for no reason other than it makes them feel better about themselves.
maybe if people didn't respond to their baiting, they would go away. some of the examples i know of are reported to be quite nice and pleasant in real life, though. Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton
