What are your other impressions of England/London? Okay well they put CORN in sandwiches and it's just gross. The food isn't very impressive - though the Indian food is fantastic - and it's still throwing me off that they drive on the other side of the road. People dress very trendy here, I had to buy myself a pair of heels right off the bat, and the 80s are back hardcore here. Not just the cool 80s like we have on the west coast but EVERYTHING 80s. Off the shoulder everything, neon colors, etc etc. Employees are rude, but you honestly can't beat the bunch of UK orgers that are here. They're the absolute best. LOL, most of this is similar to what I experienced in Dublin. "Salad" is not what we think of here, they're basically sides of things (like corn, lol). I"m surprised they're wearing neon, usually it's black, black, black...and NEVER white socks, lol... Is it freezing cold there yet? Hey it's been a few years since you were in Dublin Carrie no? You can definitely get a good salad in Dublin (and lots of other good food too) nowadays, if you know where to go 
I'm not very keen on sweetcorn either, I must say. Of course you can (and could) get a "good salad", but Pam was talking about corn on her sandwiches, which reminded me that it was especially at sandwich shops that one could get confused about what exactly the word "salad" meant. | |

Ohmygod, which reminds me, they are so strict about the food we can have in the dining hall! It's insane. Only a certain amount of certain foods and if you take more than that you get yelled at. I'm ashamed to admit I've been to McDonalds three times since I've been here but it's so good and cheap and definite comfort food...
The weather has warmed up quite a bit since. giotto and I went to... some building... with a really cool fountain in front with lions... the name escapes me at the moment (!!) and I honestly considered jumping in. That was the 16th. Today it rained a bit but hopefully the rain will stay away for a while yet. Classes are a bit crap. So far I feel like I learned more in the US but my perceptions may change as the term wears on. One professor is American, and there's another British prof that's absolutely nuts. And my Chaucer prof read pages of notes - READ them - for her hour lecture. 
Oh and Americans tend to complain loads more than the Brits. ehehe I mean, like, where is the sun? | |
