If two homosexual men got married and raised a son together>>>> is it possible there son may grow up to be gay too? And before anybody says," does it really even matter"? I say probably not but I'm curious.
btw this is not a baiting thread it's just a question! ........................................................................

You can't ignore nature...so I'd say he'd be no more likely to "grow up gay" than if he had hetero parents...He may be more likely to "experiment" later in life, so to speak...but I've always felt that your sexuality was something you were born with, primarily.

I couldnt agree more Byron Much love Pochacco Byron is right on and the limited studies out there have shown this as well...that the child is more likely to experiment but no more likely to ultimately identify as gay...

Well, considering the fact that most of us who are gay have straight parents...
I know a gay male couple who raised 2 daughters. When they met, one man had 2 kids from his prior marriage and he had custody of the daughters. When he met his boyfriend, one daughter was 4, the other was 2. One daughter is straight, the other gay. The straight daughter is so well adjusted and is married with child. I also have a friend who was raised by straight parents and he has 2 brothers and all 3 brothers are gay. I'd say it's safe to say that being raised by someone gay won't make ya gay 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

god, i want to raise kids so bad... the funny thing is i really would not care if the were gay, str8, or bi, but a part of me really almost hopes they would be str, just because they would not have to deal with all the social crap that comes with being gay.

The best route to take, though, may not be the easiest one...

The best route to take, though, may not be the easiest one... i know this is true, and i know pain has a maturing effect, but who wants to see their children suffeR? Power tends to corrupt; absolute power corrupts absolutely. - Lord Acton

Most kids grow up wanting to be as different from their parents as possible...I think the home environment would definitely have an influence, but I don't think it's a simple if=then scenario.

The best route to take, though, may not be the easiest one... i know this is true, and i know pain has a maturing effect, but who wants to see their children suffeR? I completely understand that, believe me......I guess I see "easiest" as meaning "quickest", and we often make the mistake of thinking the quickest road to our destination is the best one...but by doing that, we lose out on the opportunity to "enjoy the scenery" that can be had by taking the longer way... The trick then, is to (hopefully) help raise your children to (again, hopefully) understand the beauty that is contained within every aspect of life, and especially in every aspect of their inidividual lives...it doesn't mean they'll necessarily escape feeling pain or hurt...but the only way to avoid hurt and pain is by seeking "guarantees" in life...and "..anyone who wants guarantees in life doesn't want life, they want a dress rehersal for a play that's already been written."

I have a very dear male friend (since third grade) who is now married to a man and they have a thirteen years old son. We suspect him of being very straight. Dammit! Who wants a straight son? Moderator | I think it depends on the kid. I belive we are born straight or gay. I don't think our upbringing has anything to do with it. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Research has shown that children of same-sex couples have a higher chance of having engaged -- and openly admitted to -- same-sex sexual experimentation, but no science exists (that I've uncovered) suggesting any link either way between homosexual parents and the sexual orientation of their child.
