Your Thoughts please

i just overheard on a newstation, about an upcoming story...sorry i don't have details as of yet; but it has to do with a mentally challenged person who's comitted a crime. i believe murder.

so my question is , how do you feel about the subject of incarcerating the handicapped when they have comitted crimes? i'm on the fence about this one. i don't mean to sound ignorant, but i know some that say they should be treated the same and others who do not. is a mental institution the right answer? i find this a very difficult subject matter to address; because i feel no one really wins in these cases. i wonder how the families of victims feel. anyone care to share their thoughts or experiences on this?

thank you
sad :F:

it's not the firs time a mentally handicapped person committed a crime. even murder. it has happened many times and also has been tried in court. guilty is guilty.

...well, my opinion is: put 'em in a mental institution, with the heaviest security available, for life, or depending if it was an accident or first degree- maybe the "chair" is the answer...
i hate that for the parents and friends sad
(thats a tuff' one)

thats an awful situation to be in ...i mean...he should be punished for his actions...however...if he is truely handicaped...then i say there should be different rules for people like that...nod

IF the handicap has already been documented ...and is on record...then a person who cant determine right from wrong shouldnt be punished the same as someone who can...

those are just my thoughts on it...however...then you would have everyone using that for an excuse...:hmm2L thats a hard one ...

My thoughts exactly. Definitely a subject that needs more attention.

It depends on the nature and severity of the person's illness.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.
