A shameless hint... ... for the purpose of alleviating the vital functions of the brain.
Let me begin with concluding that there is an awful quantity of so called 'smilies' (or emoticons) on this board. This means that the regular orger - in order to fathom the vibe of the subjected post - has to have an extensive knowledge of the meaning of the used smilies. As there are a lot of people who are not familiar or new to the phenomenon that is the on-line world of communication, there is a certain amount of people that finds the use of smilies irrelevant, or even repulsive as a result from the distraction from the message. It leaves no question that this accounts to misinterpretation, unnecessary friction between members of the community and - most of all - a substantially poorer existence in the on-line world that is the .org. If you ever watched a smiley on this board, that you just could not get a hold on, and you really wanted to know the meaning behind this annoyingly badly drawn graphic, be sure to know there are a few work-arounds for your soon to end ignorance! Of course there is the very bright practice of keeping the emoticons-window open during your stay in the fora. Not only will this require actively remembering to open this window upfront (as it is rather uncomforting to wait for this window to appear - only to understand a single post), it too will load a lot of unnecessary graphics, resulting in a slowed down .org session. Another way could be the practice of calling on the properties of the graphic at stake, to look for its filename, solely to subjugate someone else's post. The goods news is that the better alternative involves the least work! Everytime a situation rises, one simply holds the cursor above the blatantly attention-seeking graphic to find a little description appearing, telling the viewer its very identity. Now, try it and enjoy an enriched .org experience

Is there actually anyone who does not understand the meaning of some of the smilies?
(... there must be!) Well, read Tom's Geek humor thread first, made me decide to throw a bone at y'all.
