Huh. This makes me think. . .maybe I should set up a paypal thing for orgers to send me airfare money so I can see Matt more often. If all of the 2000+ people who looked at our little thread sent us $1, that's. . .  . . .$2000+ dollars! 
That's a half-dozen round-trip tickets at least. I will have to really, seriously consider this.

Infra-red sux0rz I'm afraid. Requires line-of-sight, which is no good at all. A Bluetooth or other digital RF solution would be better.
For 800 dollars, I expect more than a 10 cent IR sensor  | |

Who cares? It needs line of sight, that's just rubbish. IR is cheap, nasty technology that is fine for remote controls for your TV but it really has had its day. For $800 I expect more. With a $5 digital RF or Bluetooth radio module I can wander into the next room or upstairs... To pay $800 for a wireless headphone solution which cuts off the audio when someone accidentally walks between you and the receiver is just silly. | |
