Anyone ever had a CT or CAT scan done? I've got my first one on Monday...I've been doing research and it doesn't really say how long you have to stay in the machine or anything...

Anyone had one before? Just recently, in fact... I was in the room with the machine for about 20 minutes, but in the machine for about 5 - 10 minutes. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

I think I have..can't remember. However I will be having one done coming up next month as well.
I did have a cat scan...Not sure if the time varies depending on what they're looking for. From what I remember it was probably 15-20 mins. Though it felt like forever. You have to reain still. And, there's a 'metallic' taste in your mouth during the whole thing. Good luck. Hope it's nothing serious for you hun!

I just had to drink about a gallon of some sort of terrible tasting stuff over the course of an hour... they were just scanning to see if my appendix had ruptured, so it was pretty quick. I'm not sure if I'll need to be injected with a testing medium...they're scanning my head...my sinuses actually...

Oh, yeah... they also run some sort of IV in you and inject you with some other crap that feels warm...
I could have been in there longer than I thought though, as I was in great pain and was not terribly aware of time. SUPERJOINT RITUAL - http://www.superjointritual.com

Yes I have had one. You just lie still on a flat x-ray table and this tube like x-ray machine goes around - you have the feeling of lying in a tube. It is just a machine that takes pictures of the brain. You have to remain completely still. Does not take long depending what pics the doctor wants. Nothing to worry about. They injected radioactive dye into me prior to CAT Scan. Ohh purple joy oh purple bliss oh purple rapture! applekisses, if they tell you not to eat anything before the scan, DON'T. I had some orange juice, and after they injected the dye, I got nauseous. the scan itself is not a big deal (I had one on my head too), but the dye can make ya a little yuck..

Anyone had one before? I got a cat scan of my broken wrist done. It only took about 5 minutes to do. But I guess it depends on what they need to scan.
