“September my cousin tried a reefer for the very first time now he’s doing horse, it’s June.”

A common feeling (especially amongst the older generation) that once you smoke (a cigarette) without exception next hash > e’s and wiz > coke or heroine> overdose > coma > dead! What are your opinions on this? Do you know anyone this has actually happend too?

(It’s bizarre I know, but I though we could try a discussion in the discussion forum)

Same thing happened with friends of mine. After a while they
just weren't any fun to hang around anymore. Before we went
out they'd just stop in the middle of nowhere and had to
take shitloads of drugs to get themselves started for the
evening.

It started with reefer and went onto reefer + xtc, then an
additional dose of mushrooms, lsd, speed.

By the time we were one year further they'd turned into
regular junkies, sold their audio equipment and tv's etc.

I've got pics of me and my best friend, who by that time
had turned white as a sheet, translucent skin with the
veins showing thru.

There was just no talking to them anymore so I had to cut
them loose.

Just a few weeks ago, an acquaintance of mine told me that
one of my former friends [24 yrs old] had died of a drug
overdose last year.

That made me sick to my stomach. Such a goddamn waste.

All of my friends and myself have smoked very, very, very much hashish. Some - including myself - experienced with cocaine/speed/heroin.

But, contrary to other peeps experiences, none of us ended up being addicted or worse.

Right now, none of us is smoking anymore, not even cigarettes...

there you go.

shhh thanks roverlo, thats what I was expecting people to say. Me too wink. I really thought the vast majority of people have a go, take some shit, get bored, grow up, and move on. I really wasn't expecting people to confirm the addage.

It surprised me as well! wink and the step reefer -> heroin is certainly not something I witnessed a lot.

Yet one might state all junkies started with reefer - something that may very well be true! But that does not say smoking hasish automatically makes you vulnerable to become addicted to hard drugs...escapism is involved there imho. Prince overlooked that in that line from SOTT smile

No I think it depends on the person and their level of confidence and tolerance. I only know one person who has done a lot of coke and still does it on a rare occasion, but even he said it was addicitive and hard as hell to kick as a habit. He wasn't doing it to fit in or be accepted, it was just common in his circle, he was a leader not a follower. And he's from the older generation...60's and 70's.

Cigarrettes are disgusting barf so I cannot even discuss those things...a few terms that come to mind are cancer sticks and coffin nails.

I've never smoked anything other than weed because it's so old school and common, I don't even consider it anything bad. I don't do it that often cuz it makes me tired and gives me the munchies, plus I have one of those "socially responsible jobs" and the herb has such a bad rep here in the U.S.

Coke, heroin, hash, ecstacy..all that shit scares me, always has and always will. I can't even imagine sticking a needle in my arm or inhaling some stankin' ass crack.

So, I guess the answer is no...it does not always go from "reefer" to "horse"

blunt dancing jig weed
