Why be tactful?

I was reading an article entitled "Learning the Art of Being TACTFUL"
Here are some points I really liked.

The dictionary defines tact as "the ability to appreciate the delicacy of a situation and to do or say
the kindest or most fitting thing."

Wow! I like that! clapping

It mentioned that being tactful is not just a skill; it involves a genuine desire to avoid hurting others.

Man! I like that too! clapping

Personally, I know that sometimes we can not be tactful like if we need to say something like...
"THE APARTMENT BUILDING IS ON FIRE! GET YOURSELF OUTTA HERE!!!"

Otherwise I can see why many like to be in the company of those who are tactful. nod
So...how's everybody doing? smile

The thing is that most people who are not tactful are hardly ever bothered by it.

Melody I feel you..but listen...sometime somewhere you are gonna have to kick someobody in the balls. And just as one cant go around kicklin folks, tact doesnt always get you somewhere either.

tackam

I don't consider kindness to be a nicety, I consider it to be the only appropriate way to treat people. Beyond that, I have no use for tact.

Using tact is only necessary with people are who a) sensitive to a certain issue, and b) you care enough not to offend them.

Sounds kinda lame to me boxed

It mentioned that being tactful is not just a skill; it involves a genuine desire to avoid hurting others.

Again, i'm not convinced. I mean, there's no need to be tactfull when u share the same opinion as someone else. And when u disagree, than why not say it as it is? Sometimes tactfull people are just plain arrogant.

Of course, i agree there is no point in beeing rude or in intentionally huring a person's feelings.
