Oh, oh! The freak in me is about to come out...

This may sound silly, but I always check out peoples watches. I've met alot of guys who dress like they're all rich and sucessful, but 90% of the time, only the ones with nice watches are tellin the truth.

Tom, I do this ALL THE TIME!!! A person's watch is one of the first things I notice about them--seriously! I always feel like a peeping Tom (please don't be offended), when I'm straining to catch a glimpse of a beautiful watch.

I went to the deli today. The manager there owns a Luminor. (Now there's a manly men's watch!) I said, "How's your Luminor?" He said it was being repaired. However, I noticed that he was wearing another fine watch. I said, "Is that a Tag [Heuer]?" and he said, "Yes. I'm into collecting watches now." *swoon* I was, like, "All right!"

Wait, you have 5 watches each for time and fashion? Or you have a total of 5 watches that you divide between time and fashion?

Why can't sag just be clearer and say what she means and stop wasting everyone's time?

Because sag has ruined my day with her vague statement about her timepiece.

I come to the Org to unwind and enjoy the posts and here comes sag to ruin a perfectly good thread with some nonsense about 5 watches!

Do you see my problem??

I see your problem alright. I told you, put some ointment on it and it will clear up.

Sag said she had five watches that she uses for time and for fashion, i.e all five serve both functions.

Now what's so complicated about that?

In your opinion. That's not at all clear to me. That comma makes it ambiguous. She makes it sound like she needs different watches for different occasions.

I'm not even sure if the watches she uses for fashion even tell time!

How in tarnation does the comma make it ambiguous? She wears the watches according to her mood or her outfit on a particular occasion. I suspect that you can't even tell the time!

wtf are you talking about 2thefat!?? Sag doesn't have five watches for every outfit she wears. She has more than one outfit and if she had five for every outfit that would mean a gazillion watches.

I own 5 watches and 2 are real timepieces. A Gucci and Tissot, both gifts from my wonderful hubby and I love both of them. The other 3 are just fashion watches. I like them too, but they are not worth much.

I must own 20-30 (one of these days I'm gonna count). I just got another one in the mail a moment ago! But, it's a birthday present for my nephew. I'm such a freak, I get off buying them for other people too.

My better watches are a Seiko Kinetic, Bulova, a Game Time (sterling silver, it looks like a Rolex with the Mets logo), an Opex and a Hamilton. But, I've got some Fossils, a Timex or two, a Paul Frank "Julius" watch, blah, blah, blah....

For YEARS I've been trying to get my hands on a Timex Color Flix. It was produced in the 1970s when I wasn't crazy over watches, but I did notice it then. When my fetish really kicked in I started looking for it but it was no longer being produced. I tried to purchase an original on ebay last year, but was out bidded. sad Anyway, I settled for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "Color Magic Watch." (The clear one.)

I have a Storm of London watch but the battery ran out two years ago and I've been too lazy to get it replaced, so I just don't wear a watch now.

I once read that a man should have at least two watches. It was probably some fashion fop in a mag. somewhere, but nevertheless. So do you have a knackered gas station freebee Casio that “does the job” or is it nothing but a bling bling Rolex for you?

right now the only watch i own is a company watch (yay Xmas party) but i don't wear it. i just carry it in my bag or pocket so it's not really a fashion statement

2the9’s whatthefuckyoudonetomythread?

Nice going though highfive the whole point of discussion is fashion or function you CAN’T have watches that are both. Of course you would use your “fashionable” watch to tell the time, that does not render it simply a timepiece now does it!! So come on Sag fess up, what’s it to be?
