Is this not freaky? Then why the fuck do they have to choose between the red pill and go through finding people to disconnect them from the matrix. What's the point of having another (horrible) matrix?!

That's part of the whole problem inherent to the matrix, as the architect explained, the first matrix was flawless in every way...it was in essence, bliss.

But people could not accept the matrix as reality and chaos set in, thus a new matrix was created to more accurately reflect the human equation.

That being, we as humans are more likely to accept the matrix as reality if it's a shithole...namely, what we all live in now, "the real world".

But still there was a flaw in the program, that fault was never resolved and ultimately led to the destruction of another matrix.

Thus a new program was created to try resolve the inherent problem which plagued the matrx...that being, choice.

It was found that if people were given a choice of accepting the matrix as reality it would lead to 99% of people accepting the program.

This choice was the problem and the cure, Neo was one of these few people who could not accept the matrix as reality...a program was written to find out who among people within the matrix would not accept the program...if given the choice.

Roll in Morpheus and his "pills", Neo was given a choice to either accept the matrix as reality (blue pill) or take the red pill and leave the matrix and enter "the real world".

However no one who took the red pill ever really left the matrix, it was just another program within the matrix from where all people who could not accept reality could gather and live, while still being connected to the matrix mainframe.

Very nice summaries people.

This is what I suspected all along after watching the second Matrix, but being that I only saw it once, and being that everyone else was confused as hell, I didn't bother trying to explain it, for fear of sounding like a dork.

Thanks.

Excellent movie...huge Matrix fan. I got the DVD copy of it. A pirate innocent

Can't wait for the last film!

who was the guy on the table?

That was the guy who when agent smith took over his body and went into the real world and was going to try to stabe Neo before he got back on the ship. Did what I say make any sense?

Thanks for explaining it to me also. I saw and and didn't really understand all of it-- hoping it would all come together in Revolution.

Wow Liberation, I'm so psyched that I understadn this now. This is what drew me to the first movie, but Reloaded was too complex in theory in just watching it once. Now I'm ready and can explain this to the other people didn't know what was going on.

my theory on the ending of the Matrix...

Neo is carrying around the program for the matrix within him. Just like his 5 predecessors, it is up to him to rebuild the matrix, much like a computer shutting down and being rebooted to clear it of bugs. This is what the architecht is telling him in the room when he gives neo the 2 choices and neo takes the 2nd option.

Ultimately, Neo will realise that because only he carries the program for the matrix, then by killing himself (deleting himself?) he will stop the matrix being rebooted, thus saving humankind! (There's a whole Neo is Jesus thing going on here)

Another point that some of my friends made was "Why in the 1st Matrix movie did everyone run from the agents, but in reloaded, Morpheus and co stand and fight the fuckers, even though they are upgrades and better than the agents in the original movie?" My theory on this is that Neo learned something in the first movie about fighting agents and has trained the others between the 2 movies. What do you guys think about this?

Regardless of what the story is, Matrix Reloaded was Hollywood garbage.

Don't thin that is true. He then will just b messing with the rebootsystem of the matrix the computers made. That's all. He has 2 make a break out 2 save people from the matrix-system. Get them outta their crops (if there are any...).

Noone but the 'one' has beaten up an agent in the second movie. Noone got out of a fight without the help of Neo.
