i was at this place in Camden called the Barfly. a fella who works for me was playing in his band. later on, there was a bit of a club nite and they played some bumpin' tracks and they played Controversy (which i'm sure it was an extended version), Kiss and then they cut loose 1999.
boy was it nice to hear some P out in the real world.

this kid who was also out this evening, who happens to like that skater punk music, said that he always liked TMBGITW cus he always liked how Prince got his register down that low. here's me thinking, what low register in that song?
anyway, i told him that two of his heroes liked Prince. them being Trent Reznor and Billy Corgan. he was shocked.

so did the dancefloor clear? because that's usually what i've seen at parties/clubs when Prince comes on...

NO WAY! it's funny cuz it's a rock club (not my type of club) but when they play Controversy ppl just stayed on and danced. i'm not sure they knew what song it was. Then when Kiss came on later, ppl were dancing and having a good ol time. i think Kiss is one of those songs that when you are sufficiently pissed, it's a keeper. Then when 1999 was on, it was still packed.

maybe he's getting a name for himself again with the NME crowd. how awful would that be.
