Late night double-feature picture show

Just thought I would start a Rocky Horror Picutre Show appreciation thread..
How good is this film?
The first time I saw it was by mistake as I was only about 9 and watching late night TV with my Dad as I had and ear infection. I watched it and although I thought it was rude as hell, absolutly loved it. The lyrics and script are so tongue in cheek laugh out loud fantastic aren't they?

What's your fave moment/song/frank/Riff/look?

Let's show our love right here my unconventional conventionists hug

I used to know the whole movie by heart, but I haven't seen it for a long time now.

The best Frank moments for me are "Sweet Transvestite" and when he's doing the NBC Peacock doing the Jazz Singer bit at the end. lol

Oh, and the part where they're in bed in silhouette behind the white curtain, and Frankenfurter seduces them.

I have seen the stage play here in Denmark just earlier this year, but it didn't grab me like the movie which I have seen several times.

When first I saw it (in High School), I loved the part of DrFrankenfurter seducing both Janet and Brad, I suppose because I was an aspiring gay man.
Later, I loved the idea of him making his own perfect man, I suppose because I myself had trouble finding mine, so "if only I could make one myself"...
Now I look at Tim Curry's performance and is just amazed by how he manages to keep an air of danger about him - yes, he's a transvestite, but boy, is he also some kind of scary.

I used to like the "Time Warp" song the most, but now I'm really diggin' "Going Home". It's beautiful. That song even had a powerful performance at the Danish Stage Show this year - I got goosebumps and almost had tears in my eyes. It's a very strong track. The soundtrack definately withstands the test of time.

Is the soundtrack on CD? I haven't been able to find it in any of the wreckastews here in Copenhagen. sigh

This is one of my fav movies of all time...and you really need to see it in the theater (with caberet) to really enjoy it...ahhh...those were the days...in high school...Friday night at midnight going to the theater just knowing that most of the sleeping suburban squares had no idea what was going on behind the curtain. smile

I saw the movie when i was 15 and had just come out a year before, and it really empowered me in a lot of ways. for a long time i used to watch it every night before i went to sleep.

then i did the play, and played Frank, and garnered some of the best reviews of my life. it was the only time adults have asked me for my autograph, and people would tell me "you were better than the movie" and now i can't watch the movie. the energy is so unbelievabley infectious in the stage play, and the songs that were deleted from the movie really make it more fun.

the movie still holds a special place in my heart, but i really can't watch it much any more. it's so wooden and stiff and forced compared to the stage play.

Love, love, love RHPS. I'm going to see it on the stage in a couple of weeks, I'm so excited.

And it is SO COOL that you did Frank! If you have a video of said performance, please orgnote me, because I would die (DIE) to see that. wink

I would sell my soul to the devil, were such a being to exist, to see that tape, should it exist. wink

That's cool that you can do the voice! I think that Curry's voice is a big part of what makes him so great in that role. It's perfect.

the first time we did it i kinda copped his vocal stuff and just added t it. when they revived it almost a year later, i totally got rid of all the tim curry stuff and did more of a david bowie on acid thing.

i will look for the tape.

half the fun of the live shows is the improvs you can get away with.

there were a few times i spanked audience members with the whip/cane thing, cuople of times i made out with audience members, and my all time favorite.

we bulit a catwalk that extended off the stage through the audience, and some frat boys and their girlfirends came one night and sat right in front of the end of the catwalk. obviously they had never seen the movie cause i whipped off the cape and their eyes about fell out of their head. i flirted with them the whole show, and they were SO red in the face. at the end during coming home i walked right off the catwalk and did a good portion of the song on the lap of one of them.
