Don't know POOK--I never had any problems with him, but also never had any particular "bonding", either. There was a day when, because someone else had already publically "outed" POOK's identity, I mentioned his "real name" on a thread. But I quickly edited it out when I realized it wasn't common knowledge, (and at the request of a few Orgers). Sure, I thought it was kinda dorky that he tried using his POOK-speak in the P&R forum to debate or make points--hard to be taken seriously that way, I thought, speaking in half sentences . Anyway, my point is that I think I have relatively neutral personal feelings about him.
So, speaking off of the top of my head after reading this thread--I think it's too bad that he left due to collectively deeming individuals/the site as "sexually depraved", "anti-American", "Godless", "anti-marriage", etc. I can totally understand needing to leave to get one's head back on straight, to prioritize, to clear the air after personal disagreements with others (many of you are all too aware of my own personal battles with a few people here, and that I've taken several breaks, and even used an alter-ego to talk a little shit ). So, I'm hardly insensitive to "leaving the Org" (never started a thread about leaving, though), and I have done my share of being angry. But I find it puzzling that POOK/TommyAlma glosses over--actually, almost totally ignores--a very important aspect of his decision to leave: that for the most part (other than shitty mods ) we,ourselves, are our own problems here. When I gave myself "time outs" from the Org, I certainly pointed fingers at those who bugged the shit out of me. I accused them of being selfish, lying assholes, etc. But never, ever, ever did I hold myself above the site as a whole or those on it (sorry again to those who still insist they know better than I what my motives were ). For POOK to try to judge and "shame" those who remain and participate on this site, for him to act as if he alone knows who the "great people" are, for him to make such blanket accusations without acknowledging that some of his own shit may very well stink...? I find it unfortunate, to say the least. And I guess that's all I have to say about that [This message was edited Wed Sep 3 20:21:58 PDT 2003 by AnotherLoverToo]

So stop blaming the Org bingo!!! but...i do agree this place fosters a lil to much negative energy...like food, you need a well balanced diet of perspectives and reality... i look at the amount of posts that some people make and i wonder if this type of forum is a positive attribute to living life to its fullest...thats when i realize that *i* myself shouldnt be concerned..and that possibly *i* am spending to much time online... thats when you turn the computer off...not go on a "Network" rant...because in the end, its only the fuckin internet... only you are in control of your own happiness..ranting as you exit? what does one achieve by it? big brother4 rocks edit!! POOK said: Finally, after POOK's four years in the org community, prince.org has gone completely over the edge. POOK has been a true fixture on the new version of the org, sending random POOKings in Orgnotes, leading many, many elite strike forces to other websites (starwars.com and ironmaiden.com being the most memorable, but they were all fun to watch) and causing general mayhem. I've let him talk to all of you as equals, spreading much love and POOKness through the Internet. The problem with this is that, as many of you know, POOK is a very small, impressionable monkey. All he really wants to do in life is spend time with his beloved froggybaby, listen to Prince, play his little symbol guitar and jump up and down really fast. Amongst all this, he has spent quite some time on my computer during the day, making friends on the org. POOK stopped posting about Prince long ago and has since spent his time in General Discussion and Politics & Religion. While small, he is a wise monkey, dropping some true science on the boards. The problems mostly stem from the General Discussion forum, but extend well into the Politics & Religion forum. It's no hyperbole to say that the Politics & Religion forum is filled with anti-American Godlessness, or that the General Discussion forum overflows with sexual deviance. This is not the type of environment POOK needs to spend his time in. I think you know what I mean when I say that the depravity hosted on prince.org has finally gone over the edge. Perhaps if this were an isolated incident - or even if POOK were to stick to the music-related forums - this would be different, but the problem is that depravity is greeted with resounding support and nobody seems able to discern right from wrong. The relationships promoted on the org make a mockery of marriage and of the human function, and the support coming from the other members of this forum makes me wonder what kind of company POOK has been in this whole time. This is not the company POOK needs to keep. Please do not misunderstand - neither POOK nor I are perfect or blameless. However, when problems arise in our lives, we do what we can to correct our errors and soldier on. My problem with prince.org is that its members choose to wallow in their problems. You make your diseases your identity. Nobody challenges this, so I'm stepping in to make a stand. From this point on, POOK is no longer allowed to post at prince.org. On a personal note, no matter what Rhonda tells you, I truly left this site long ago. POOK does respect many people on the board. I'm doing my best to not name any names, except to say that Karen and Tony are really great people and POOK would like to stay in touch. POOK understands that you all exist outside of the org and if you would like to contact him, you can do so at his regular e-mail address. POOK knows that many of you will hate POOK for my decision, however I am sure that this is the right thing and POOK understands. I'm requesting that POOK's account not be deleted, so that nobody else picks up the mantle of POOK. POOK had some great times at prince.org, but those times are now over. Don't be surprised if you see POOK pop up elsewhere on the Internet, however he will post here no more. Not on a special occasion. Not for a new Prince release. Not even to respond to your responses on this thread. Good-bye. -Tommy A It totally creeps me out to see POOK writing in full sentences like that. Not only that, but he is talking about an alter ego like its a relative!

it's a shame that diversity of thought and lifestyle would be the reason for somebody to leave - it's exactly that diversity that draws me here.
any community is better off when there is a genuine respect for other people's thoughts and convictions. so in that context, i respect Pook's reason for leaving, but would hope that he will ultimately find peace in himself and genuine love and compassion for all others.

I hardly know the strange little orger, but I feel moved and saddened by that departure note. Is it really that bad here? My heartfelt wishes go out to the Monkey and all those who knew him and will miss him.
