About a week ago, an idea struck me that it might be a bit of fun to organise an on-line Mardi Gras, here at the Org. I was hoping that one or two people would take to the idea and join in the fun during a two-day period where threads could be started relating to LGBT issues; mostly humourous, but hopefully a few serious.

Fortunately, it seems that a large number of you have greeted the idea with much enthusiasm and the Org Mardi Gras will embrace everybody and become, quite simply, a celebration of being yourself. Whether Gay, Bi, Lesbian, Transgendered, Straight, Black, White, Monkey, Whatever! Everyone is encouraged to start threads in the spirit of the Mardi Gras and if you can't think of any ideas for threads, then simply add what you can to existing ones.

Part of the reason that I chose the date was that September 1st 2003 represents exactly 5 years since I first came out as a gay man (I'll tell you what, that first time I said the words 'I'm gay' out loud to somebody was quite possibly the hardest thing I've ever done). I can't believe that in five years, I've gone from a depressed closeted homosexual and become the happy, out and proud, person that I am now, both here at the Org and in my 'real' life.

And, with that in mind, here is what could possibly be the World's first on-line Mardi Gras (unless you know different). I hope that you'll all take the Org Mardi Gras in the spirit with which it was intended - as a bit of fun.

Don't forget that tonight, there'll be the launch of the Org's own nitespot and on September 3rd, there'll be an after-party for everyone to relax and get over those inevitable hang-overs.

And now, to officially launch the event, here's the Queen of England who's later going to be taking part in a 1972 themed party;
