I was at ECTS! Had a good time, but was quite busy...

I spent most of my time at GDCE (Game Developers Conference) schmoozing and rubbing shoulders with lots of games industry people which was good fun. Spent a bit of time at ECTS, checked out Half Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 and all the rest... and checked out the consumer event too (the Playstation Experience) which was great for kids, brilliant fun. Jak II is starting to look very cool.

The Nintendo stand was fucking lame though. Mario Kart Double Dash!! isn't great, and since they had that on the big screen, F-Zero was buried away in a sweaty corner. Pikmin 2 is okay, more of the same really. Pacman is good fun, but you need a GameCube, a GBA, a link cable, and 3 friends to play it with which makes that a pretty tall order for most.

Highlight of the show - running into Hideo Kojima!

As for freebies and goodies... I got LOADS of stuff but I didn't bother with that PS2 goodie pack because the queues of kids were just ridiculous.

I think this might be a good thread to ask a couple of questions.

I am not into video games at all. In fact, my fave vid game of all time is Centipede, so that might tell you how long it's been since I paid video games any attention.

Anywho, my kids want a video game system and I don't know what I should I get. My girls are young, both under 12 and I won't let them play gory or adult type games. I'm wondering which system has the best kids games I guess.

Then, my niece is dating a guy who wants to design video games. How would one break into that field?

I hope that demo you played doesn't hold true, it looks so cool! Big names in it oddly, that is a rarity for non-commercial blockbuster games.

Bah, Nintendos booth just sucked because all the big names are out. Come on though, give Geist some credit. Double Dash!! too, Mario Kart is a good game, and I do believe with game like that, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! As for Pacman, it may be useless to some, but that is a VERY cool idea.

God you suck. That is friggen awesome, did he talk of Boktai, or was it just Metal Gear stuff? I hear that Boktai is a fairly good game.
