I hear adults using the word "dude" alot lately, and I don't like when they do this, because it makes otherwise intelligent people sound stupid.

There is an operations manager where I am currently temping who is only a few years younger than me who, I swear, prefaces every other sentence coming out of his mouth with the word "dude". A lot of other people in this office do the same thing, and I am so tempted to tell them how silly they sound, but being a temporary employee, I don't say a word.

I suspect that the "dude" trend began with that kid who used to be on the Dell commercials ("Dude, you're getting a Dell!"). I never heard this word being used so often until after those commercials aired on T.V. Funny now but when I hear adults prefacing sentences with the word "dude" it makes me think of a teenaged kid instead of an intelligent adult.

I'm not trying to make it sound like I'm better than the people who say "Dude" this and "Dude" that, but just stating an opinion. LOL - now I'm waiting for people to start prefacing their responses with the word "dude" just to be silly.

I don't use that particular word, but I do preface my sentences with "fuck" quite frequently.

I would rather have people preface sentences with "fuck" than with "dude" any day.

Sorry Chris, I didn't mean to offend anybody. Like I said in my original post, I'm stating my honest opinion.

For the record, I never said, "like all this stuff" in my beginning post, so I'm not sure where you got that from. If you're going to quote me, please do it correctly.

dude, I use that word a lot, but I keep it in my social life dude...at work I rio-lize that it's just not the best fuckin word to be using, dude...

I love the word dude, and it is used only towards a special group of people in my life.

I do make sure that I can carry a decent conversation with proper use of the riches of language as well
