I wish people were more independent. Less dependent upon government to live there lives for them. Personal freedom is the greatest gift that human beings have, it is a shame that so many give it up.

On the site...I'd like to get a daily email saying when someone has replies to what things I posted on- instead of having to search and go through everything and try to remember where I posted.
In the world I wish people would remember the human aspect of relations. Like you can't force people to like you. Being connected and building positive relationships. I think our (US) government has lost a lot of that especially.
Also you have to remember the immediacy of things. It's difficult to explain. But for example, how do we keep having preventable crises? Like the power out. I don't think it was caused by terrorists but it could easily have been, we're realizing. And the people working there I'm sure thought "it's too far-fetched they would try"..but you have to see it from other peoples' prespectives and realize they're PERSISTENT. They're LOOKING FOR weaknesses. We just don't seem to have the willpower to cover all our bases. Also I was reading today a report about the NASA Columbia disaster and how the people in the control room knew about the insulation coming off (which caused the accident) but they were used to certain risks, and insulation came off before. They thought it was ok simply because it happened before with no major incident. When people take jobs of this importance, being in charge of protecting lives, systems people depend on, government...they need to take on the burden of being relentless looking for flaws and covering all bases. Another thing is that the state goverments build bridges which eventually collapse and kill people. Why not just build them right the first time? They admit they had flaws but it wasn't "worth the money" to make them stronger. What is the price on human lives? If you're going to do something do it right the first time and hopefully you'll never have to do it again!! And then they have to rebuild the bridges and it end up costing twice as much as it would have to make them strong to begin with. Not just bridges but many structures.
I think the US government is in a crisis of imagination and until we realize the importance of imagination we'll never be as safe as we should be.
I'm sorry this went on so long but it's been stewing for awhile.
