"Once you've loved somebody" by the Dixie Chicks means a lot to me because the song is about loving someone so much that you can't even think about loving another even after the relationship is over and not thinking you can anyone on that same level again. I felt that way about someone at that time that the album came out. That whole album "Wide Open Spaces" spoke to me. It was my life at the time

CONSTANT SORROWS
The SOGGY BOTTOM BOYS

I am a man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my day.
I bid farewell to old Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised.
(The place where he was born and raised )

For six long years I've been in trouble
No pleasures here on earth I found
For in this world I'm bound to ramble
I have no friends to help me now.

(chorus) He has no friends to help him now

It's fare thee well my old lover
I never expect to see you again
For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad
Perhaps I'll die upon this train.

(chorus) Perhaps he'll die upon this train.

You can bury me in some deep valley
For many years where I may lay
Then you may learn to love another
While I am sleeping in my grave.

(chorus) While he is sleeping in his grave.

Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face you'll never see no more.
But there is one promise that is given
I'll meet you on God's golden shore.

(chorus) He'll meet you on God's golden shore.

You can't tell me that george didn't look like he was sangin

Down To The River To Pray
Alison Krauss
(O Brother, Where Art Thou?)

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O sisters let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O sisters let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O brothers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
Come on brothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O fathers let's go down,
Let's go down, come on down,
O fathers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the robe and crown
Good Lord, show me the way !

O mothers let's go down,
Let's go down, don't you want to go down,
Come on mothers let's go down,
Down in the river to pray.

As I went down in the river to pray
Studying about that good old way
And who shall wear the starry crown

O sinners let's go down,

The Dance by Garth Brooks was used in response to the Oklahoma City bombing, the video is incredible.

Blake Shelton has a song called Austin that I love:

She left without leavin' a number
Said she needed to clear her mind
He figured she'd gone back to Austin
'Cause she talked about it all the time
It was almost a year before she called him up
Three rings and an answering machine is what she got

If you're callin' 'bout the car I sold it
If this is Tuesday night I'm bowling
If you've got somethin' to sell, you're wastin' your time,
I'm not buyin'
If it's anybody else, wait for the tone,
You know what to do
And P.S. if this is Austin, I still love you

The telephone fell to the counter
She heard but she couldn't believe
What kind of man would hang on that long
What kind of love that must be
She waited three days, and then she tried again
She didn't know what she'd say,
But she heard three rings and then

If it's Friday night I'm at the ballgame
And first thing Saturday, if it don't rain
I'm headed out to the lake
And I'll be gone, all weekend long
But I'll call you back when I get home
On Sunday afternoon
And P.S. If this is Austin, I still love you

Well, this time she left her number
But not another word
Then she waited by the phone on Sunday evenin'
And this is what he heard

If you're callin' 'bout my heart
It's still yours
I should've listened to it a little more
Then it wouldn't have taken me so long to know where I belong
And by the way, boy, this is no machine you're talkin' to
Can't you tell, this is Austin, and I still love you

I still love you

FAve Tim song at the moment
Red Rag Top

[Verse 1:]

I was twenty and she was eighteen,
we were just as wild as we were green, in the ways of the world
she picked me up in that red rag top,
we were free of the folks and hiding from the cops,
on a summer night runnin' all the red lights
we parked way out in a clearin'in a grove and the night
was hot as a coal burnin' stove,
we were cookin' the gas we were had to last

In the back of that red rag top
She said please don't stop

[Verse 2:]

Well the very first time her mother met me,
her green eyed girl was a mother to be for 2 weeks
I was out of a job and she was in school,
life was fast and the world was cruel
We were young and wild, we decided not to have a child
So we did what we did and we tried to forget
and we swore up and down there would be no regrets
in the morning light,
but on the way home that night

On the back of that red rag top
She said please don't stop..
lovin' me

[Verse 3:]
We took one more trip around the sun,
It was all make believe in the end,
No I can't say where she is today,
I can't remember who I was, back then
Well you do what you do and you pay for your sins,
and there's no such thing as what might've
been, that's a waste of time; drive you outta your mind
I was stopped at a red light just yesterday beside a young girl
in a cabriolet and her eyes
were green
I was in an old scene

I was back in that red rag top
On the day she stopped
Loving me
I was back in that red rag top
On the day she stopped
Loving me

he also did "sharin the night together" in concert it was awesome!

He had me at Don't take the Girl...

*Garth performed the National Anthem live in Pasadena at Super Bowl '93 to a television audience of over 1 billion people in over 87 countries.
*Excitement for Garth's 1994 World Tour started early in Ireland, where an estimated 130,000 Irish fans streamed into the downtown area in search of show tickets after it was announced that Garth would be playing The Point in that city in the Spring of 1994. In less than two and one half hours 34,000 tickets for the four shows were sold to those who had the proverbial luck of the Irish. Police finally had to disperse the crowd so the city's merchants could get back to business.
*On January 29, Garth performed two benefit concerts at the 36,000 seat Great Western Forum in Los Angeles. Both shows sold out in a record setting 34 minutes. He raised over 1 million dollars for the Youth Education Town in Gateway Plaza in South Central L.A. at the two shows.
*1993 also saw Garth fronting the biggest and fastest selling concert tour ever fronted by a country act in the U.S. The announcement of an NBC special to be filmed at Texas Stadium (home of the Dallas Cowboys) preceded a ticket buying frenzy on the part of Texas fans. He sold out Texas Stadium in 92 minutes, selling over 65,000 tickets to the first show and breaking the previous sales record held by Paul McCartney. Dallas fans demanded and got more shows: a second show sold 65,000 tickets in 92 minutes, as did a third.

1994
The Garth Brooks Collection

Billboard Top 200 Chart: peaked at #1
Billboard Country Chart: peaked at #1

*Performed a sold-out show at the Hollywood Bowl with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra benefitting "One Voice." The show sold out in 21 minutes, with Hollywood Bowl Special Events manager Mark Ferber noting: "I can't remember, since the Beatles, a longer box office line than this morning for Garth Brooks."

1995
Fresh Horses
(Release date: 11/21/95)

Billboard Top 200 Chart: peaked at #1
Billboard Country Chart: peaked at #1

Milestones:
*Garth is now the only male artist in RIAA history to have two solo albums top the 10 million mark (domestic sales). (Bruce Springsteen comes closest to the mark: he has two titles above 10 million, but one was the E Street Band live box set.)
*He continues his unparalleled success in album sales, exceeding the 60 million mark, leaving only The Beatles ahead of Garth in total U.S. album sales.

1997
Sevens
(Release date: 11/25/97)

Billboard Top 200 Chart: peaked at #1
Billboard Country Chart: peaked at #1

Milestones:

The spectacular was the most watched and highest rated original program on HBO in 1997, beating all broadcast competition in the time period as well as 3 of the 4 networks combined! New York ratings were an amazing 51.7, according to Nielsen. The 1997 Super Bowl did not do as well. Ratings continued to rise throughout the evening of the concert, peaking at a 19.1/29 in the last 15 minutes of the concert. Based on HBO average ratings, Garth -- Live From Central Park was the most watched special on cable television in 1997.

On himself: "I am happy with who I am. I'm not satisfied, I'm just happy with who I am and realize that Garth Brooks is all I'm ever going to be."

Chrome, She can see herself In the shiny grill and the
Wire wheels of a red Chevelle with four on the floor and the top down
Chrome, zippin' by on an Electra Glide
With dual tail pipes doin' 105 in the broad daylight
On a two-lane headin' outta town

Forget Pink and purple paisleys
little mellow-yellow daisies
Ain't no pot of gold in her rainbow
Her favorite color is ..Chrome

Chrome, get her leg up high
on the bumper of my big black Mack truck
With a smoke stack pointed towards the sky
And mud flaps, you know the kind
Chrome,I said hey little girl you sure look nice
Do you wanna ride, I won't bite, she climbs inside
Says hell no, I want to drive

Forget Pink and purple paisleys
little mellow-yellow daisies
Ain't no pot of gold in her rainbow
Her favorite color is ..Chrome

It's chrome alright Shiny,nice polished
Chrome, Chrome

Forget Pink and purple paisleys
little mellow-yellow daisies
Ain't no pot of gold in her rainbow
Her favorite color is ..Chrome

That girl is all about chrome
She sure loves chrome

Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold.
They'd rather give you a song than diamonds or gold.
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded levis,
And each night begins a new day.
If you don't understand him, an' he don't die young,
He'll prob'ly just ride away.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such.
Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
'Cos they'll never stay home and they're always alone.
Even with someone they love.

Cowboys like smokey old pool rooms and clear mountain mornings,
Little warm puppies and children and girls of the night.
Them that don't know him won't like him and them that do,
Sometimes won't know how to take him.
He ain't wrong, he's just different but his pride won't let him,
Do things to make you think he's right.

Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.
Don't let 'em pick guitars or drive them old trucks.
Let 'em be doctors and lawyers and such.
Mamas don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys.

My Front Porch Lookin In
ooo yea woo yeaaa oo yea

the only ground i ever owned was stickin to my shoes
now i look at my front porch in this panoramic view
i could sit and watch the fields fill up with rays of golden sun
or watch the moon lay on the fences like thats where it was hung

my investments are in front of me its not about the land
ill never beat the view
from my front porch lookin in

[chorus]
theres a carrot top who can barely walk
with a sippy cup of milk
a lil blue eyed blonde with shoes on wrong cuz she likes to dress herself
and the most beautiful girl
holdin both of them
yea the view i love the most is my front porch lookin in

yea yea

i travel here and everywhere
followin my job
i've seen the paintings from the air
brushed by the hand of God
the mountains and the canyons reach from sea to shining sea
but i cant wait to get back home to the one he made for me

cuz anywhere i'll ever go and everywhere i've been
nothing takes my breath away like my front porch lookin in

[chorus]

i see what beautiful is about
when i'm lookin in
not when i'm lookin out

[chorus]

theres a carrot top that can barely walk
(from my front porch lookin in...)
a lil blue eyed blonde w/ shoes on wrong
the most beautiful girl
(beautiful girl) (from my front porch lookin in...)
holdin both of them
ooo yea
