S&M thread about the movie "Secretary" okay, so we jacked a different thread talking about this, but how many people have seen this terrific movie (NOT for all tastes obviously) and thought... "WOW. I feel like I would enjoy this?
The movie really clicked with me somehow. I have always felt the urge to enter a Master/Slave relationship, as I really like when a guy takes control and is dominating, but not abusive. I am not talking about putting on silly leather outfits and snarling at one another, I am talking about wholeheartedly putting your absolute trust in someone and allowing them to run your life. The movie really spoke to me, as I am a person with no self-discipline, and as a result I am fairly lazy, out of shape, and unorganized, who finds this thing very erotic. Anyone else?

I know it seems like an anti-feminist statement, but in truth, there is a tremendous difference between an educated person of average to high intelligence choosing this situation for themselves, and a person who has this relationship forced on them, or is taught that every relationship should have a man ruling it, because it's the natural way.

Well of course, each person has their own personal levels of what extent it would go to. My particular desire would be to take it a fairly high level. He would NOT own me, or anything ridiculous like that, nor would I allow many life altering decisions decided singlely by him, but there would be a strong sexual and sensual level involved. Have you seen the movie? It's a VERY good dark comedy with an interesting thought behind it. PS-LOVE your new signature. Frankie

It is, suprisingly, one of the sweetest love stories I have seen in some time.

I saw this with my boyfriend, and I thought it was good until about the last 10 minutes. It sort of seemed like the movie company wanted it to be neatly wrapped up into a pretty story, whereas if they'd ended the movie 10 minutes before, it would have been a 9 instead of a 7 (on the scale of 1-10)

you thought they should have ended with her sitting at the desk? Well, actually, I guess it would have worked, but the end is really what makes it a very tender sweet love story. The first time I saw it, I will agree with you that the ending seemed tacked on, but the second time I began to see that the ending really helps make it. The first time you see it, you expect it to be some sucy little sex comedy with no point. The second time you see it, you tend to see it's trajectory that makes the ending fit better.

Moderator | I love this movie. but as I said before I don't trust anyone enough to actually play my fantasy out. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |

Which is pretty much how I feel, but isn't that kind of what the movie is talking about? people like you and me who want to let go but can not?

I really liked it because it showed how a relationship like that could work. I did read 91/2 weeks and found it titalating but kind of creepy. O is more of an inside look into the slave mentality, also topping from below is a novel that deals with the hows and whys of s&m and why people get involved in this lifestyle. It all gets very depressing if you think about it to much. In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular. |
