Considering the origin of "Call a Spade a Spade" is anchient greek and using the word "spade" as a racial statement is from about 1920's America...

i would say you are wrong.

thanks anyway for trying, yet again, to pass some kind of racist card upon me.

Honey-Bunny, what exactly am I "wrong" about when you don't seem to understand what it is I actually said? lol The use of "spade" as a derogatory term for black people in America is still around. It's even in many dictionaries--check it out sometime.

I didn't "pass some kind of racist card upon" you--I just pointed out how, once again ("dropped the Cosby Kids off at the pool", I'm-so-great-I-take-little-black-kids-out-to- Olive Garden-to-teach-them-some-manners-but-hell-if-I'd-let-em-in-my-house, etc. etc. lol), you opened your clueless mouth and spoke before you gave it much thought.

In the U.S and in this day and age if you polled one hundred people about the spade statement i would figure
98% would say it is a racist statement( you and chemmie would think otherwise). If you look at the other statements this person has made is makes for an even stronger case it was racist. Quit playing the games saying that isn't what i meant when you know what the price was when you said it. Aaron i'm dissappointed in you. I thought better of you. Chemmie past quotes(teaching black kids to eat and the cosby kids) tend to lean toward a side that more like archie bunker.

CALL A SPADE A SPADE – “To be straightforward and call things by their right names, to avoid euphemisms or beating around the bush. The words are from the garden, not from the game of poker. So old is this expression that it wasn’t original with Plutarch, who used it back in the first century when writing about Philip of Macedon, Alexander the Great’s father. The saying has been credited to the Greek comic poet Menander, who described the life of ancient Athens so faithfully that he inspired a critic to exclaim, ‘Menander and Life, which of you imitated the other?’ If this is so, to ‘call a spade a spade'’ could have been quoting a much older Greek proverb. The expression was introduced into English by Protestant reformer John Knox, who translated it from the Latin of Erasmus as: ‘I have learned to call wickedness by its own terms: A fig, a fig, and a spade a spade.’ Erasmus had taken the phrase from Lucian, a Greek writer of the second century and translated it as ‘to call a fig a fig and a boat a boat,’ which is possible because the Greek words for boat and garden spade were very similar.” “Encyclopedia of Word and Phrase Origins” by Robert Hendrickson (Facts on File, New York, 1997).

also...
Call a spade a spade, instead of calling as spade a shovel. A spade is a digging instrument that was (And still is!) confused with a shovel. I believe what I call (and everybody else calls) a shovel is really a spade. The shovel is the flat bladed instrument meant for picking up (a coal shovel)dirt, and the shovel is meant for breaking up ground.

The only way this statement can come off as racist is if it is taken completely out of context. It is no different than using the word "niggardly" to describe someone who is cheap. Because of your own hypersensitivity, you are overlooking the actual meaning of the word or phrase and focusing on something you deem offensive. Meanwhile you are throwing the racist card at the same time without any merit.

Do you also know that the word "Spade" has several meanings?
1. . An implement for digging or cutting the ground, consisting usually of an oblong and nearly rectangular blade of iron, with a handle like that of a shovel.
2. A cutting instrument used in flensing a whale.
3. the forked end of a connecting rod in which a pin is held at both ends
4. A hart or stag three years old.
5. a playing card in the major suit of spades

or as a verb:
6.To dig with a spade; to pare off the sward of, as land, with a spade.

why would i care... a fag is a fag. So let's call a spade a spade. You chem chem protesth too much. you (at least twice now) have dropped the ball by sayin shit that is directly
linked to racial difference (bigotry) and each time you try to shmoove it over by tryin to state all the reasons that
it should mean nothing to blacks because the history of it
can be linked to inocent shit. GET REAL Bro. You're a tanted
lil white boy that has been taught tha a nigger is only a nigger when he leaves the room. Of course by bein home on your pc you tend to forget that we're in the room all the time.
If you were truely chagrined about it you would lose the
"but it wasn't my intent" plea and step to the plate, kinda so a Public Servise Announcement to the rest of the 'closet bigots' on the site and admit that y'all got a long way to go. Oh and that you'll senceirly (whutever) take part in rectifying the sittiation. But like i told ice, you gonna stay true to form cause you in too deep. And the amount of respect you get from this day forward is un direct proportion to the shit you put out there.
As for all the rest of your group, and all the other groups.
Remember, When i had something to say about homosexuals
you mothafuckas labled me a "gay bashin homophobic" and i said FUCK YOU.

i think y'all need to rethink whut you do speak up for,
I ACT BETTER THAN I THINK, and like others i'm a bit tired of this shit where you don't believe that we (BLACKS)have
this issue on our plate more than we have meals at our tables. and each one of you have issues that you need to look into, because you will need our suport.

BAD Said:

Alrite, Let's just call a Fag a Fag.
Al Sharpton is to Ted Nugent whut Petrol is to Fire.

Oh... don't mind the fag thing. i was refering to cigarettes

The only problem with that argument is that the origination of the phrase was "spade", not "fag". And the phrase was popularized before any racial connotation was given to the word "spade".

why would i care... a fag is a fag.

LIFE IS GOOD!!!
