So, I'm going to the Netherlands tomorrow afternoon.

Anything interesting I should see, experience (xcept the Red Lights District, of course!), anything recomended from folks living there...?

First, what exactly do you plan to visit in my lovely country?

Will you be like the other boring tourists, visiting just Amsterdam - and if
they get sober in time, they might visit some other 'typical Dutch' places,
like Alkmaar and Volendam - or do you have a purpose being around?

wink

LOL. finally someone to guide me around! razz

Amsterdam (Red Lights District) - something that has to be seen.

Rotterdam, Delft, Gouda, and a few other places I can't remember the name of. Not much, but is there anything special about those?

It's a school-thing, but I have absolutely no intentions on hanging around others. Got to find a bar and a coffee shop, and I'm happy razz

You're kidding...right? That's like saying come to Iraq, you'll have a vacation you'll never forget.hmm

No offense to you and your country, but who would want to go to a place like Isreal for a holiday? I guess if one has relatives or friends there then perhaps it would be nice to see them, but other than that, I wouldn't go near the place.

The "disputes" are in a very small area of a beautiful country. It was the same here in the UK when all the IRA bombing were going on. There were a few devices in London and Manchester but oh nooo can't go to the UK its a freekin' war zone.

I'd love to go to Israel

Amsterdam is a city full of nationalities and cultures. It has lots of interesting places to go for art, music and lifestyle.

In Rotterdam, you'll probably be visiting the harbour. Gouda is famous for the cheese, and Delft is for its ceramics.

wait... are you american? if not, then shit... we are ignorant after all! lol

enjoy your trip, make sure you get some real culture while you are there. you would be better off hanging out with the school.

Best Coffeshop in town: The Doors at the Singel (near Amsterdam Central Station)
Also good fun is De Parade, it's like a cultural carnival.
Take tram 25 from central station to the last stop, cross the street and you're there, it's underneath the Utrechtse brug.
And go to the Vondelpark as well.

HAVE FUN

Everyone gets so freaked out when Holiday and Israel are mentioned in the same sentance!! I have been there for a holiday twice-ok I had a friend to saty with, but we travelled around and there is lots to see and do, good clubs, restaurants, beaches. It is such a cosmopolitan place with lots of variety. The people there are really nice too!

There is so much terrorism and hate in the world, you are almost putting yourself at risk anywhere you go. But it hasn't stopped me visiting Spain, embassies, tube, buses tall buildings in Central London, Israel etc. Go and see for yourselves!! yay!

That's kinda an ignorant thing to say. There are not many countries around with the historic relevance and beauty of Isreal and i'd love to visit it. That said, i donot support all of their policies, but that's another thing.

I'm not saying that the people of Isreal are not nice. I'm sure they are lovely people and I'm sure the country is beautiful too, but seriously, who would want to go a country that is so embedded in religion and war?? Not I, that's for sure. There are dozens of other countries I would like to visit before I would go anywhere near the middle east.
