Don't laugh, you Americans - Europe is small, we don't need cars to get around as much as you do. Also car insurance for twenty-something males is just silly back in Ireland - thousands of euro per year.
Tomorrow I have the first part of my driving test - the theory part - So wish me luck! I said wish IT! Ian Good Luck ian Don't feel bad, cuz I'm 23 and I ain't got my license either. I think everybody will agree with me if I say it's safe 4 me 2 stay off the road Same here. I'm gonna by the smallest, cutest, girliest car possible, something I can't do any damage in. Something tells me I'd be prone to road-rage... I'd like a Smart but 2-seaters just aren't practical... they are so cute though!

Ian good for you ian. i know you'll enjoy having a car because i followed the same path and delayed buying a car long past the 'norm' here in the USA. so, i appreciate it more. although, i confess to a certain amount of shame at becoming part of the problem since i don't see that the planet will survive once every single human being owns and drives a car. but personally i love it. good luck!

I admit that I don't really "need" a car.
However it will do three things for me: 1. Allow me to do some sight-seeing (been in Scotland for nearly 2 years already, and I haven't seen anything yet!) at the weekends 2. Allow me to drive myself when I travel on business 3. Give me much more flexibility with regard to the jobs I can choose from. In the past, I've turned down some really great jobs because of shitty locations. Being able to drive helps matters considerably! I must say, I'm quite disappointed with cars. Like, it's 2003, I figured the user interface would have evolved a bit by now. They are still as awkward to control and use as ever... and they don't even hover I'm very disillusioned with the future.

Bladerunner lied to us!
I remember watching "Tomorrow's World" on BBC like 15 years ago and they said in the future we'd all have hover cars. And we'd buy music on little crystal cubes. Well here we are in the future, in 2003, and it sucks! I wanna refund!

I'd suggest that you "streamline" the process by just sleeping with the relevant people and skipping that whole testing mess.
Either way, good luck! | |
