Wish me luck! Well I've finally gotten around to learning how to drive, and I'm gonna buy a car. Don't laugh, you Americans - Europe is small, we don't need cars to get around as much as you do. Also car insurance for twenty-something males is just silly back in Ireland - thousands of euro per year.
Tomorrow I have the first part of my driving test - the theory part - So wish me luck! I said wish IT! Ian

Midnight Club II!!! Ian, just remember, when the cops come up on ya, turbo boost through a small passageway and turn on two wheels to get through the skinnier parts! Id like to see the cops do that! Sign 78 that you're obsessed with Prince: You buy a John Prine album- just out of curiosity.

Actually that is basically where most of my driving experience comes from... and not forgetting Burnout 2 of course. The practical should be a white-knuckle ride Tomorrow is the boring bit. Lots of theory, multiple choice questions, and hazard perception video clips. They mark you on your reaction time to hazards

I had to rely on other people to chauffeur me around all the time. Basically I couldn't get anywhere without a car. Next time, build your country less spread out dammit

I say this in all seriousness - the biggest difficulty in learning to drive for me was struggling to (a) resist the urge to weave around traffic at high speed and (b) resist the urge to follow the ideal racing line. Videogames will be the death of me!

Videogames will be the death of me! I know, if you have ever played the Getaway, you know you would go mad on some of the levels. Police everywhere, and if you so much as go through a stop sign they are on you. Realistic cars to, so if you get spotted by the police they will put down spikes, and once a tires flat, the jig is up. Stupid traffic controls and "life savers" I WANNA BE WRECKLESS! It was the only time in my life I really felt handicapped by not being able to drive. Living in Tokyo was much better, the only time I ever used my feet was to change subway lines
