MTV even proved it, I can't remember the name of the special but a few years ago they put a good-looking girl in situations like going to the gym, going on a job interview etc. Then they put the same girl in a fat suit and sent her into the same situations again. By the end of the show the girl was crying and really upset at how people treated her when she was in the fat suit. And the kicker was the fat suit didn't make her look disgusting or anything it only added about 20 pounds. So she went from say a size 4 or 5 to a size 11 or 12. If my memory serves me correctly the average woman in the USA is a size 12 or 14, so that gives you an idea of what most women go through on the day to day basis.

Conversely, I once read a study that attractive people elicit less attention from medical professionals because they don't look like they're ailing as much as patients who are less attractive. Truth.
