I am a facilitator for a training workshop we have here for the incoming graduate students. We help them with everything related to teaching. In any case, today was the first day of training, and during our lunch break, while returning to the math buildings, I wanted to cross the street. I had the right of way (the white "walk" sign was illuminated) but some girl had pulled up to far in her car and was blocking the walkway. I walked in front of her still with the right of way. I was to about the middle of her car when she stepped on the gas!

The first thought in my mind was that it was some friends of mine playing a joke on me, but she was still accelerating. I was able to dodge most of the blow, ending up with only a bruised bottom of my foot from stomping it on the ground. She quickly stopped the car, I think in shock of what had happened. The funny thing is, she didn't even so much as apologize, roll down her window or anything. She just zoomed off without so much as a recognition of what she had done. So basically, it was a hit and run.

I mostly think it's funny because the look on her face when she stopped was pretty priceless and I escaped with only a sore foot. However, I wonder if she would have stopped if I had fallen over.

She seemed more alarmed by it than I was and I wouldn't have made a big deal out of it anyway had she stopped. My only issue is that she didn't even consider stopping for a moment to see if I was ok.
