Can anyone help me on the following question? I am thinking about getting my belly button pierce at the end of August. I have heard so many good and bad points about it. Has anyone had it done?, does it hurt?, have you had any problems with it?

I had mine done like a decade ago, but it got ripped out. But no it didn't really hurt. I have to warn you though that the belly piercing takes the longest to heal. My mom who owns a shop always tells the customer that it can take up to 6 months to fully heal.

It's actually a tough piercing for skinny people to have because there is just not enough skin to hold it. On the other hand obese people have too much skin and probably shouldn't be drawing attention to that area with a piercing.

It hink you may as well get it done because unlike a tattoo if you don't like it you can just take it out

Had mine done 3 years ago - the actual piercing didn't hurt me very much (but that is a very personal thing - the 2 girls I went with both passed out). It's the healing process that sucks- I walked around with my pants undone for about 6 months afterwards - it killed!!! I probably wouldn't do it again if I had the option, it just took too long to heal, but I do like it now. I am never taking it out that's for sure - I went through too much!! I'll be a 70 year old lady with a belly ring!!

As for pain, I felt a little something, but it was almost nothing. I've experienced more pain getting an earlobe piercing or donating blood to the Red Cross.

Although the navel has a reputation for being a difficult pierce to heal, I had no trouble whatsoever with mine. I attribute this to two things:

1) I was very good about following the aftercare instructions.

2) I didn't wear clothes that would rub against the piercing. For example, you'll want to stay away from any pants where the waistband is at navel level.

I think the navel is a good introduction to piercing beyond the earlobes. Just make sure you go to a professional body piercer who uses autoclave sterilization. (If he or she wants to pierce your navel with an ear piercing gun, run--don't walk--away.)

I have mine done twice, right next to each other. The clamp hurt more than the needle. If it is done right it won't even bleed much. It is true that it will take a long time to heal, so you will either have to get super low cut pants or walk around with your pants undone for a little while. Just follow the directions for keeping it super clean and don't forget to keep your pants from rubbing on it and you will heal fully in around 3-4 months.
