Sandra Bullock gets drunk, crashes a bus she has to keep above 50 mph, is sentenced to rehab and has to confront alcoholism, romance, and zombies--you know, the basic run of the mill life issues--on her way to a happy ending. alternative ending shown on request.

28 days later is a VERY smart film about the destruction of our society and what it would take to rebuild it. It was not very scary but it was a FANTASTIC film. If you go please stay after the credits to see the much better alternate ending.

and yes there are zombies biggrin

The first part of the movie is just great, with amazing footage of London. After that, i don't know what happened... did the budget run out? no more good ideas? Anyway by the end the movie is all over the place and totally worthless IMHO. I think it's always a bad sign when at one point they use exactly the same effect/joke as they did 15 minutes earlier.

First half was great, but the last 20 minutes or so seriously brought it down.

Jim wakes up from a coma in a London hospital to find the hospital deserted - and the rest of London as well. By degrees he comes to learn that in the past 28 days, a blood-borne virus has been released from a research facility and swept across England, Paris and New York, killing many and turning most into murderous zombies. After coming across a handful of uninfected people, Jim and his companions go to Manchester, where they hear the uninfected are gathering. But they have more on their hands than just zombies...

They're not zombies, their people infected with a virus. Zombies can keep on going after death. These things can be killed like regular people and eventually they die on their own.
