help me pick the new dog for me and my children........ do you have a favorite breed of dog ??

Hi,
I don't know about the breed, but I think you should look at shelters, preferably for an older dog that wouldn't have as much chance at getting a home. Also an older dog is likely to be more tame and gentle. You can trim the coat or make sure to brush the dog daily and get rid of excess fur. Anna  | |

first and foremost... go and get your new dog from your local pound, humane society or rescue - no need to support breeders while millions of unwanted pets die every year.
your safest bet for a dog for a family with kids will be a retriever mix. if your kids will spend a lot of time with the dog, you may want to consider a herding breed (or mix), but they need a "job", or they'll become destructive. | |

first of all, Kelley needs to find a dog! there are lots of puppies at the pound, especially in the fall and spring of course. take your time to find the one with the right temperament for your family, and spend a lot of time with him/her. | |
