When did you fall in love with Hip Hop? Yes, I'm on some Brown Suga Sidney Shaw type shit.
I fell in love when I heard "The Bridge is over" by BDP and "My part of town" by a local philly group called The Tuff Crew. I always liked it, but I more into the rock thing. Being a brutha from the heart of Philly, I got my share of looks and crazy ass stares, but I've been on point ever since, but I still groove to that rock shit from time to time. Holla if ya hear me! Life my azz muthafucka, dis is a bitness!!

Holla if ya hear me! i was drivin cabs when SUGARHILL came out and i knew the shit was on hit then. my choices of rap now fall mostly to west cost, as i really don't like that 'freestyle sound' i am KING BAD!!!

For me it was hearing stuff like Sugar Hill, Grandmaster Flash, Erik B & Rakim, and later stuff like LL Cool J, KRS-1, Public Enemy etc. I was hooked as a kid... and as a teenager listening to Tribe, De La, PE, Tupac etc etc just cemented my passion for hiphop permanently
First time I heard Rapper's Delight just blew my mind... I'd never heard anything like it. Rap was quite slow to leak through my corner of the globe... I was the only kid I knew who was into it, apart from a few kids who liked crossover stuff like the Beasties.

Hip Hop enchanted me with Sugar Hill Gang's "Rapper's Delight," but I totally fell in love with it around 1982 when I first saw the breakdancers in the movie Flashdance. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου

Once Grunge came around there were only a few hip hop artists I liked. Brand Nubian, Erik B and Rakim, EPMD, De La Soul, Tribe... and some others.
3 albums made me fall in love with Hip Hop all over again in the mid 90s... Black Moon - Enta Da Stage Smiff N Wessun - Da Shinin' Rae Kwon - Only Built for Cuban Linx "I'm here to chew bubblegum and kick ass, and I'm all out of bubblegum"

OK. When I was 10 I knew very little about any music other than curent pop stuff. (we're talking about 1994 here). I really liked the song 'Boom shake the room' ( I was 10 ok, I was 10) but I couldn't find it in the shops. Then one day my mum bought me a tape called "Rap attack". It was a rap compilaion album that had "Boom shake the room" on it. On this tape I heard "When the shit goes down" by Cypress hill. That's where it started for me. I love 'Black Sunday'! So imagine how 'took' i was when i heard "8th wonder" then the Xmass song from Kurtis Blow (the piano solo was 'DA BOMB DIGGETY, YO') then the GAP BAND had a lil joint out, this was all back in the late '70s. When MotorWerks came out with "TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS" i was all over it, I wasn't gangsta, but i was all outta the 'jack and jill' shit. i am KING BAD!!!

i don't know exactly when, but i've been a fan for awhile. i think it was when someone played the sugarhill gang in elementary school during show and tell. and my mother loved that song by grandmaster flash that i can't remember the name of. she played it ALL the time.

Well that was a little before my time but it wasn't long before I was playing catchup! Kurtis Blow is one of the greats... I think someone should do an Org remix of "The Breaks" yknow: if yo thread gets locked by the moderator man / that's the breaks, that's the breaks! / or you get flamed by some newbie again / that's the breaks, that's the breaks! Okay I'll shut up now.
