Hmmm... I guess I was kind of an oddball, too -- never much of a hero worshipper, but more into concepts that no one else my age seemed interested in.

As an eccentric young black gay male with an odd sort of ethnic interplay in my background, Prince probably was my single full-blown hero. Most others whose contributions I'd say totally captivated me were occultists or visual artists -- particularly the Italian Renaissance or Baroque masters or contemporary animators, comic book artists, etc.

Needless to say, I was a lonely kid lol
