First time I heard Rapper's Delight just blew my mind... I'd never heard anything like it. Rap was quite slow to leak through my corner of the globe... I was the only kid I knew who was into it, apart from a few kids who liked crossover stuff like the Beasties. So imagine how 'took' i was when i heard "8th wonder" then the Xmass song from Kurtis Blow (the piano solo was 'DA BOMB DIGGETY, YO') then the GAP BAND had a lil joint out, this was all back in the late '70s. When MotorWerks came out with "TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS" i was all over it, I wasn't gangsta, but i was all outta the 'jack and jill' shit. Brilliant! Well that was a little before my time but it wasn't long before I was playing catchup! Kurtis Blow is one of the greats... I think someone should do an Org remix of "The Breaks" yknow: if yo thread gets locked by the moderator man / that's the breaks, that's the breaks! / or you get flamed by some newbie again / that's the breaks, that's the breaks! Okay I'll shut up now. Don't make me like you maaan... DIS SHIT WAS FUNNY AS FUCK THOUGH!!! i am KING BAD!!!
you are NOT... STOP ME IF YOU HEARD THIS BEFORE... | |

you just never got to know me good enough. i grew up in mostly suburban, black (but suburban) neighborhoods. it is all i had around me. i listen to all the rock music you can hand to me but i love my hip hop too. those albums came out while I was in high school and got me back away from the grunge and back into hip hop. Boot Camp is my all time favorite and Cuban Linx is one of the best hip hop albums ever! im listening to Binary Star and 7L & Esoteric now. Some of the best hip hop out these days.
